Bollywood actor Shahrukh Khan takes delivery of the 1100th Hyundai Ioniq 5 electric SUV
The South Korean automotive giant, Hyundai Motors India, recently handed over the keys to the 1100th Hyundai Ioniq 5 EV to Bollywood superstar Shahrukh Khan. The immensely popular actor was seen taking delivery of his brand-new Hyundai Ioniq 5 EV, along with Unsoon Kim, the MD and CEO of Hyundai Motor India Ltd. Shahrukh Khan has been the brand ambassador of Hyundai India for 25 years.
Hyundai Gifts Shahrukh Khan 1100th Ioniq 5 EV
After taking delivery of his new Ioniq 5 EV, Shahrukh Khan stated, “I am honored to receive the all-electric SUV Hyundai IONIQ 5. This is my first-ever EV, and I am glad it is a Hyundai. IONIQ 5 is a delight to look at with its unique design and exceptional features. It is unbelievable that this EV marvel by Hyundai has surpassed its expectations and sold over 1000 units this year.”
He added, “Being the oldest member of the Hyundai Motor India family, our 25-year-long journey has been really fruitful for both me and the brand. We have had some brilliant moments and milestones together. The brand Hyundai is family to me, and it is my pleasure to be associated with one of the most trusted and loved car brands in India.”
Shahrukh Khan unveiled the Ioniq 5 at Auto Expo 2023
Back in January of this year, at the Auto Expo 2023, Shahrukh Khan took the covers off of the Hyundai Ioniq 5 EV. At the time, the car was introduced with an introductory pricing of Rs 44.95 lakh. Currently, the price of the Ioniq 5 has been bumped up to Rs 45.95 lakh. The introductory pricing was only offered to the first 500 customers.
At the unveiling, Shahrukh Khan stood in front of the Hyundai Ioniq 5 in his signature pose with his arms spread wide. The actor at the event also showcased his humor and wittiness by stating, “As the seniormost member of Hyundai in India…this wonderful set of people from Hyundai here to make it a company policy that whenever I come to Delhi to launch a new car, then that car I should get to take home for free.
In addition to this funny statement, the actor also shared his deep-rooted love for the Hyundai Santro hatchback. He stated, “Now I am the corporate brand ambassador and have to talk about Creta and everything. But still, my all-time favorite car is Santro.” Over the 25 years, Shahrukh Khan has been seen promoting a ton of Hyundai cars, and his association with the brand is still going strong.
Hyundai Ioniq 5
In India, the Hyundai Ioniq 5 has been launched with a single powertrain option. This includes a single-motor setup, which has been set up with a rear-wheel drive configuration. The electric motors in the Hyundai Ioniq 5 EV produce 217 bhp of maximum power and 350 Nm of torque. This EV SUV comes equipped with a 72.6 kWh lithium-ion battery. Capable of supporting 800V fast charging, it can charge from 10-80 per cent in 18 minutes. This battery gives the Ioniq 5 a claimed range of 631 km on a single charge.
