Brie Larson Banished To Second-Place as ‘The Marvels’ Fails To Become the Best of 2023’s Superhero Leftovers

0 41

The unusual release pattern for 2023’s Marvel movies means we’re going all summer without a new MCU film in theaters, but don’t despair as The Marvels is on its way into cinemas this November. But, you know what, fans are actually more excited to keep their behinds parked on their sofas and tune into what Marvel Studios is offering up on Disney Plus, which might be bad news for Brie Larson.

At least, this is the vibe we’re getting from the latest Twitter conversation concerning the superhero slate coming across the rest of the year. User ErikDavis asked fans which of the four Marvel and Sony films coming over the second half of 2023 they’re most looking forward to — The Marvels, Loki season two, Echo, and Kraven the Hunter.

While there are obviously die-hard Carol Danvers devotees out there, it’s fair to say the majority plumped for Loki, thereby sliding The Marvels very firmly into second place.

Others don’t care for any of the upcoming slate, to be honest.

And some, believe it or not, are only here for Kraven the Hunter.

Even admitting you’re excited for The Marvels is apparently a shocking confession in this crowd.

The most encouraging comments predict it’ll “do okay,” which is hardly a ringing endorsement.

Tragically, predictions that The Marvels will be “trashed” online because of its three-fold female leads are likely bang on the money.

Loki season one remains one of the most popular Marvel Disney Plus shows of the lot, so it’s no surprise that its incoming second season is hoovering up all the hype, but the follow-up to one of Marvel’s highest-earning offerings — 2019’s Captain Marvel brought home over $1 billion worldwide, remember — not even being the biggest upcoming Marvel project can’t help but ring alarm bells.

The Marvels is coming to either match or challenge our expectations this Nov. 10.
