Daniel Radcliffe Once More Bats Away ‘Harry Potter’ Cameo Inquiries

Even though it’s been a dozen years since Deathly Hallows – Part 2 drew the original eight-film saga to a close, Daniel Radcliffe will have long since made his peace with the fact that the shadow of Harry Potter will follow him wherever he goes for the rest of his life.

For a while, though, questions about the Wizarding World began to fall by the wayside after the actor began establishing himself as one of the most interesting and versatile young talents in the business, one who would make a point of choosing the most challenging material available in an effort to distance himself as far from his career-defining role as possible.

And yet, all of that hard work has been undone in an instant since Warner Bros. announced plans for an episodic reboot of the saga, with Entertainment Tonight the latest to grill Radcliffe on whether or not he’d consider a cameo appearance.

“I doubt very much that they will. It seems to me that they are wanting to make a fresh series, which it feels like it’d be distracting to have old, haggard Harry also entering from stage left. I wish particularly, obviously, the kids nothing but the best.

I’m not in the business of giving anyone advice. I mean, I have definitely been thinking about the idea that there’s this set of kids out there right now who will get cast in a couple years and that is a very potentially life-changing thing,” he said. “… I hope I get to meet them one day, I guess, and be like, ‘Are you OK? How’s it going?’”

In typically wholesome fashion, Radcliffe’s first concern is for the young actors who’ll be placed under the harshest of spotlights just as he was, but you get the sneaking suspicion his patience will continue wearing thinner the more he gets asked about the reboot, which is going to be a lot.
