Disney+ is available to download on the PS5 natively today. Previously, anyone that wanted to watch hit Disney+ shows such as the brilliant WandaVision or exclusive movies like the fantastic Predator prequel Prey on their PS5 had to access the Disney+ app for PS4 via backwards compatibility. This has long been the case, but in a nice surprise to Disney+ fans on PS5 this week the app has relaunched with exclusive features for the PS5.

On Tuesday October 4 the Disney+ app for PS5 became available to download from the PlayStation Store – and as an added bonus it now supports 4K HDR video streaming.

Speaking about the release of the PS5 Disney+ app, Jerrell Jimerson, EVP of product and design for Disney Streaming, said: “A key part of our global expansion strategy is to meet consumers wherever they are, which is why we’re excited to enhance Disney+ for PlayStation 5 users.

“The ability to support 4K HDR video streaming on the platform will also improve the viewing experience for fans.”

If you’re not already a Disney+ member you may be looking for the best Disney+ deals around or wondering if a Disney+ free trial is available. If so there’s a few things to point out.

Firstly, Disney+ previously offered a free trial but that hasn’t been available directly from the service for a long time. If you shop around you can find Disney+ available as free ad-ons that are offered by the likes of Samsung and O2.

The cheapest Disney+ deal available each year is the £1.99 promotion that is usually offered around Disney+ Day but that offer has just ended.

Instead, the deal that offers the best value for money right now is the yearly membership that costs £79.90.

This offers a £15.98 saving each year compared to paying for Disney+ on a monthly basis (£7.99 a month).

While you may prefer paying in bite-sized monthly memberships there’s a good reason to fork out for a year’s access upfront, especially if you live in the US.

In December a new ad-supported Disney+ membership tier will be launching in the States.

However, instead of offering a cheaper price than the current membership the ad-supported Disney+ plan will be priced at $7.99 a month – the price of a subscription at the moment without ads.

While the ad-free plan is increasing in price in the US to $10.99. If you want to avoid this price rise for a while and lock in the current price the US subscribers can pay for a year’s access now.

This will ensure you pay the current price for Disney+ for the next year, and avoid paying the new, increased price for 12 months.
