Don’t forget: It’s not just Samsung’s flagships that get four big OS upgrades

0 66

Samsung recently launched its new flagship foldables, so it’s only natural that the conversation right now involves those phones quite a fair bit. The Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4 come with many great hardware features, and on the software front, they come with Samsung’s promise of four Android OS upgrades, all of which makes them excellent choices for many customers.

But while the conversation continues to revolve around these flagships, there’s one thing everyone needs to be reminded of: it’s not just flagship Galaxy phones Samsung will support with four OS upgrades. Mid-range devices are included in the list, too. Right now the list is somewhat small: it only includes the Galaxy A33, Galaxy A53, and Galaxy A73, all of which were launched in early 2022.

Want long-term software support from Samsung? You don’t need to break your bank for that

Samsung will, however, likely extend the same support guarantee to more mid-range smartphones in the future. The sequels to the Galaxy A33, A53, and A73, for example, are likely to make the cut. Basically, even if you don’t spend obscene amounts of money to get a flagship Samsung Galaxy device, you still have options, and it’s something to keep in mind the next time you’re looking to buy a new Galaxy phone.

In fact, Samsung has also started reducing the disparity between software features on its flagship and mid-range phones. The latter don’t support stuff like DeX just yet, but there are many similarities before the two categories of devices as far as the software experience is concerned. If good software and long-term support are among your primary requirements, you should definitely check out Samsung’s mid-range phones.
