Facebook Messenger Change Puts An Emphasis On Calls

0 72

A new change is coming to Facebook Messenger, and it will put an emphasis on calls. The company has started adding a dedicated ‘Calls’ tab, that is being added to the bottom of the screen.

Calls are getting a dedicated tab in Facebook Messenger app

At the moment, you have three tabs down there, unless you already received the update. Chats, People, and Stories tabs are present. Well, the ‘Calls’ tab will be second in line, right after the ‘Chats’ tab.

This tab will make it easy for you to call people that are on your list, and view your call history at the same time. You’ll be able to make voice and video calls via this tab.

This is not exactly new for messaging apps, but it is for Messenger. You already have such a tab in various other apps. In any case, calling someone is as easy as tapping the call icon right next to their name.

You can, of course, search for contacts here, or launch a group video call, if you want. Call history will be highlighted under each contact for you to glance over. Missed calls will be highlighted in red color.

If you’re utilizing the Messenger’s voice or video call feature frequently, you may like this update. Though, truth be said, it does seem redundant. People you’re in frequent contact with are already in your messages list, so you can quickly tap someone’s name and all them from the dedicated page.

Granted, this will make things a bit more focused on voice and video calls, so it makes sense in a way. Also, some of you may be deleting conversations on Messenger or something of the sort.

Audio & video calls are immensely popular on the platform

Facebook did say that audio and video calls have been immensely popular on the platform, which is probably the main reason for the change. The company said that audio and video calls have increased 40-percent compared to early 2020.

This feature has started rolling out to Android users, though it may take a while to arrive to your particular device.
