The very first smartphone with 240W charging support is coming soon. Its charger just surfaced online, it is a SuperVOOC 240W charger. This charging solution comes from OPPO, of course, but it seems like OPPO’s phone won’t be the first to ship with it.

The very first smartphone with 240W charging is expected to launch soon

Are you confused? Well, don’t be, as it only technically won’t be an OPPO phone, as in it won’t have OPPO branding on it. The device in question is the Realme GT Neo5, almost certainly.

That phone is rumored to become the first to support such fast charging. We cannot be 100% sure yet, though, of course. In any case, more information is expected to come on January 5, at least regarding this charging solution, which OPPO originally announced last year.

The charging adapter that surfaced has a model number ‘VCKCJACH’, and it shows 20V power at 12A current. Having said that, OPPO already announced this charging solution, as already mentioned.

We reported on it back in February last year. OPPO shared the details during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona. It was then revealed that this charger can charge up a 4,500mAh battery in only 9 minutes.

Needless to say, that’s insanely fast. It was then revealed that OPPO is using three charge pumps to make this a possibility. The power supplied to handsets can be converted to 10V/24A.

This charging adopts five safety protection measures

OPPO also said that this charging adopts five safety protection measures. On top of that, it has a special, customized intelligent control chip. It controls the voltage, current, and temperature.

That chip also monitors whether the battery in your device is damaged by external forces. OPPO also enhanced temperature protection via 13 temperature sensors, just to minimize the chances of overheating.

We expected this charging to debut in an OPPO phone, but it wouldn’t surprise us if a Realme phone gets to use it first. Realme is OPPO’s sister company either way, and they do share the tech between them.
