The 2023 Fortnite Summer Escape event is about to make its debut on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PC, Nintendo Switch and Android. The new Fortnite summer event has a July 4 release date and a 2pm BST UK start time. While there could be a small update to accompany the launch of the event, Epic Games is unlikely to take the game offline for maintenance. This means you can jump straight into the action when the Summer Escape event kicks off at 2pm BST.
The news was announced by Epic Games on Twitter: “Get ready to dive in. Summer Escape starts July 4 at 9 AM ET.”
According to a promotional image posted by Epic Games, the event will run for two weeks. This means fans have until July 18 to complete any quests and unlock the in-game rewards.
In terms of what fans can expect, the Summer Escape event will likely make cosmetic changes to the map.
Epic Games is also expected to bring back classic summer event items like the firework gun, flare gun and ice cream cones.
Elsewhere, Fortnite insider Hypex claims that the Summer Escape event will have “Mural” and “Propping” categories, complete with free rewards.
There’s a chance Epic Games will also release the Surfboard vehicle, which has been in the works for a long time.
“So far we know that it has a “Mural” & “Propping” categories with free rewards,” reads a Hypex tweet. “And we know that they been working on a “Surfboard v2″ vehicle, hopefully it releases this time.”
This season’s summer-themed bonus skin will also be released during the event, beginning on July 6.
The Taste of Purradise set will be available during the Summer Escape event. It contains the Purradise Meowscles skin, as well as the Calico-conut Back Bling, Dune Scooper Pickaxe and the Beach Breezer Glider.
Other items like the Self Reflecting Emote, Purradise Pattern Wrap, Swole-cation Spray and Purradise Meowscles Loading Screen will also be unlockable during the event.
The items can be unlocked by completing challenges, although only if you have the Battle Pass.
