Google confirms ARCore for unannounced OnePlus Nord 3 & more

0 43

At least 26 new Android smartphones have received the ARCore certification from Google. The company recently added the Asus ROG Phone 6D Ultimate, Tecno Phantom V Fold, OnePlus 11R 5G, and several more devices to the official support list. The unannounced OnePlus Nord 3 has also made it to the ARCore list, hinting at a nearing launch. It may debut later this month or in early July.

ARCore certification is a sign of approval Google provides to Android devices that support augmented reality (AR) experiences. Most Android smartphones and tablets offer this functionality out of the box, enabling features like Live View in Google Maps. However, the Android maker still evaluates every device from its side to confirm that users are getting the best AR experiences. It maintains a list of all supported devices.

Google adds new devices to the list every few weeks. Sometimes, the company takes longer to confirm ARCore certification for some devices, but as long as a device supports AR experiences, it will find its way to Google’s list. For example, the Pixel 6a launched in May last year but received ARCore certification in March this year. Likewise, Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4 foldables debuted in August last year but had to wait until this March for ARCore approval from Google.

Google doesn’t forget to add compatible devices to its ARCore support list

Since AR functions still work on supported devices regardless of the ARCore certification from Google, the delay doesn’t affect users. But the company certainly doesn’t forget to add compatible devices to the list. The latest round of additions confirms ARCore support for 26 new devices from ASUS, Moto, Nokia, OnePlus, OPPO, Vivo, Xiaomi, and more. We have listed all of the newly added models below (via).
