Google Pixel 7 Has Compatibility Issues With Pixel Stand 2

0 48

Imagine releasing a new smartphone that doesn’t work with your existing, pricey accessories. That’s exactly what Google has done here. The new Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro don’t work, completely, with the Pixel Stand 2 that was released last year.

So here’s what happens, you can charge your phone on it. That’s not the problem. It’s setting it up for the other smart features that this wireless charger can do. A big reason why a lot of people bought this $80 wireless charger.

When you put the Pixel 7 onto the stand, it’ll tell you to set it up. But once you start adding your smart home products that you want easy access to, the app stops and never starts back up again.

Some on Reddit have claimed that an update to the Pixel Stand app has come out and fixed the issue. However, it’s not yet available for everyone. We’re seeing the same issues here with both the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro on the Pixel Stand 2. And there’s no update for the app appearing on either device just yet.

This is quite common for Google

Doing stuff like this with new releases is quite common for Google and other companies actually. For a while there, every new Samsung phone would come out and not work with Android Auto for a few months, then Samsung would fix the issue. Apple released the iPhone 13 last year, which was to big to fit on the MagSafe Duo wireless charger (due to the much larger camera bump). So this isn’t the first time something like this has happened, but still annoying.

Hopefully Google will push out an update to fix this in the coming days and weeks. We might have to wait for the next Pixel Feature Drop, which should be next month. Seeing as we’re already two betas into this feature drop.
