Build Your Dreams of BYD is China’s biggest electric car maker, and the company is all set to enter the personal vehicle segment in India with the Atto 3 Electric SUV. The launch is slated for the 11th of October, 2022, right in the middle of the festive season. The automaker has already been operational in the B2B segment with its E6 electric MPV, which is now available for sale even for private car buyers. The Atto 3 will challenge the Hyundai Kona and MG eZS electric SUVs in the Indian market, and is expected to be priced at Rs. 30 lakh. It’ll be imported to India through the semi-knocked down (SKD) kit route, and assembled here. Deliveries will commence from early 2022. In the run up to launch, BYD has just put out a teaser of the Atto 3 electric SUV. Here, take a look.

The BYD Atto 3 is powered by a permanent magnet synchronous electric motor that puts out a peak power of 204 PS and a peak torque of 310 Nm. These numbers will allow the Atto 3 to hit 100 Kph from standstill in just 7.3 seconds. The electric motor has been rated to offer a high energy efficiency of 89 %. There are two batteries available for the Atto 3 in international markets: 49.92 kWh and 60.48 kWh.

While the 49.92 kWh battery offers a range of 320 kilometers under the WLTP (a reliable test that offers 80-90 % on-road range) test, the 60.48 kWh battery offers a 420 kilometer range. An 80 kWh DC fast charger can recharge the Atto 3’s battery pack in just 45 minutes.

The BYD Atto 3 is an attractive electric crossover,  and has suave styling. Tesla-like sharp LED wraparound headlamps and DRLs, a sloping roofline, roof rails, shark fin antenna and wraparound LED tail lamps are key styling bits.  On the inside, the Atto 3 is feature-rich. A 12.8 inch touchscreen infotainment display that can be rotated occupies a prominent place on the dashboard while the large, panoramic sunroof makes the interiors of the electric SUV quite airy. A 5-inch digital instrument cluster, steering mounted controls, 8-speaker sound system, USB Type-C charging, wireless phone charger and support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are the other prominent features on offer.

Other safety features such as 6 airbags, ABS, EBD, tyre pressure monitoring system, traction control, electronic stability program, hill descent control and 360° view monitor are also on offer. To sum it up, the BYD Atto 3 has everything you’ll need in a car.
