Indian Politician gets all-new Toyota Land Cruiser LC300 much before the official launch

0 53

The all-new Toyota Land Cruiser LC300 has become very popular around the world. While Toyota started accepting bookings for the new LC300 back in August, there is no news of the launch of the SUV yet. According to the rumours, the new LC300 should have been in the Indian market by November. The new Toyota Land Cruiser LC300 has a waiting period of several years and Toyota had to stop accepting bookings too. But this Indian politician has been riding around in the new LC300 for many months now.

K.N. Nehru became the first politician to own the Toyota Land Cruiser LC300 earlier this year. The privately imported LC300 has been around for a few months now. The same vehicle was spotted in Coimbatore earlier this year. While Toyota is yet to launch the SUV officially to the Indian market, minister K.N. Nehru has been using the vehicle for a long time now.

Toyota will import a limited number of Land Cruiser LC300 in its ‘Sahara’ version to India. Aimed at offering a good mix of luxury and comfort, the Sahara version of Land Cruiser LC300 is expected to come in nine colour options, bi-LED projector headlamps, LED tail lamps, 18-inch machined alloy wheels and chrome finish on the front grille, window frames, rear bumper, outside rearview mirrors and door handles.

While we are unsure about the engine that powers the politician’s Land Cruiser, the India-spec Toyota Land Cruiser LC300 will get only one powertrain option – a 3.3-litre twin-turbocharged V6 diesel engine with a 10-speed automatic gearbox. This engine claims 304 bhp of maximum power and 700 Nm of maximum torque and is assisted by a standard four-wheel-drive system. The SUV is a proper go-anywhere vehicle with features like multiple off-road modes and a limited-slip differential. It will also be packed with modern electronics, including Level-2 ADAS.

Since it will be a CBU model, the price tag is likely to hover around Rs 2 crore. The minister must have paid extra to privately import the SUV to India.

Owns several Toyotas

The minister owns quite a few Toyota SUVs including the old-generation Land Cruiser Prado, Toyota Fortuner and another Land Cruiser that he uses daily.

The politician K. N. Nehru is a public works minister in the Tamil Nadu government. He previously served as Minister of Transport in the state government. Nehru’s all previous cars have been Land Cruisers. We found his pictures with two other Land Cruiser SUVs displaying his official emblem and a Toyota Fortuner.’

Land Cruisers are world-renowned for their reliability, sturdiness and comfort. The all-new Land Cruiser has become one of the most sought-after SUVs around the world.

Toyota confirmed earlier this year that there is a waiting period of 4 years on the new SUV. The waiting period is because of the high demand and shortage of semiconductors. Toyota has also ditched the massive V8 engine for the new fuel-efficient V6 engine with the new model.
