Leaked Moto G Stylus 2023 render shows a minor design shift
In October last year, a mysterious stylus-equipped Motorola smartphone leaked in a blurry render. Codenamed Geneva (model number XT2315), we haven’t heard about the device since. It appears the company will soon launch the phone as the Moto G Stylus 2023.
Motorola’s Moto G Stylus lineup will soon get a new member
Motorola is due to launch a new stylus-equipped smartphone. It launched the Moto G Stylus 2022 in February last year, followed by a 5G model in April with the model number XT2215. The similarities in the model numbers suggested that the Motorola Geneva was a new model in the same lineup. In fact, the leaked render showed a stylus too, so there was no question about it.
Now, after a few months of no-show, we have confirmation that it is the Moto G Stylus 2023. Noted tipster Steve H. McFly, aka OnLeaks, recently shared a high-resolution render of the upcoming Motorola smartphone and we can immediately notice its striking similarities with the Geneva phone. The front and rear design, button placements, and everything else tell that it’s the same phone.
Speaking of design, it appears Motorola is making two major changes this year. Firstly, the vertical rounded rectangular camera array has been replaced with a “squircle” one. We also have one less camera this time around, leaving us with only two of those at the back.
Secondly, the Lenovo-owned company is doing away with the glossy finish on the back for a matte look. This makes the handset look a little less premium, but the Moto G Stylus 2023 isn’t a premium phone in the first place, so that isn’t a big deal.
The rest of the setup is fairly standard. The stylus pen gets a dedicated silo at the bottom, where it resides alongside a speaker grille, microphone hole, USB Type-C port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The power and volume keys are on the right, while the SIM tray is on the left. The screen is flat but the rear panel appears to be curved. The punch-hole camera cutout on the display is larger than what you see on premium smartphones. The top and bottom bezels also scream a budget device.
