Round 1: Interviewer: Recruiter (HR): Duration: 25 mins. The interviewer started by explaining details about this role. What the internship would be like. Talked about the company in general. Day-to-Day activities in a day of an intern. What kind of projects we can get into. Then he started asking questions.

  • Tell me about yourself.
  • Why Lucid Software?
  • Why this role?
  • What makes you a good fit here?
  • What do you look for in a company before applying?
  • Explain your work experience.
  • How do you prioritize your tasks for the day.
  • What technologies you have worked on.
  • Discussion on Agile-Scrum methodologies, and jobs of a Product Owner/Manager.
  • Tell me a time when you led a project or team towards a common goal.
  • Do you have any questions for me?
  • Shared details on what to expect in coming interviews.

Suggestion: Have a brief company overview before this round. Confidence and clear communication is the key. Giving a few behavioral mock interviews will help.

Note: It was a behavioral interview with a slight touch of things you have emphasized in your CV.

Round 2 (Design Challenge): Duration: 50 mins. Interviewer: Group Product Manager

  • Introduce yourself.
  • Design a workflow for train riders to refill their transit card using a kiosk. The Kiosk has only 4 physical buttons with corresponding text displayed next to them, 1 transit card scanner, 1 Dollar Bill Accepter, and 1 Coin return.
  • Discussion on User Personas, Segmenting the users, picking one target segment, discussing their pain points, brainstorming on solutions, and prioritizing solutions.
  • Design a user flow on the above approach.
  • Designing wireframes for the entire flow, how each screen would look like, and what feature sets would you want to have.
  • Do you have any questions for me? 

Suggestion: Confidence and clear communication is the key. Ask smart questions which should be user centric. Should complete at least one Design Track on Exponent before having this round. Practice wire-framing as well.

Round 3 (Analytical Challenge): Duration: 50 mins.Interviewer: Product Manager

  • Introduce yourself.
  • Began with a discussion on interest in sports and Google Assistant.
  • How would you increase the User Engagement for LucidChart?
  • Questions on AB Testing on wireframes of LucidChart.
  • Important metrics you would take into consideration for selecting one design of the two.
  • What questions or quantified data would you ask the Data Analytics Team on User Engagement metrics.
  • Given 4 tables with information on above questions. Had 3 follow up question:
    • What do you conclude from this data.
    • What are your recommendations for LucidChart.
    • What should be the next steps.
  • Do you have any questions for me.

Note: Round 2 and 3 happens simultaneously, so it will go for around 100 mins continuous. It will get exhaustive by the middle of round 3. 

Suggestion: Confidence and clear communication is the key. Ask good and relevant questions. Give several Mock interviews. 

Additionally, You should get an intimation on the offer after these rounds. The next round is just a discussion call of 30 minutes with the VP of Product Management. (*subject to his availability)
