0 39

Mahindra Scorpio-N has become a fast moving product for the brand. The all-new Scorpio-N deliveries began after a long waiting period and the owners are truly delighted after getting their hands on the all-new model. This is an incident from Chandigarh where the car was sandwiched between two vehicles.

The incident does not seem to be a high-speed one. The owner of the Scorpio-N took the deliver recently and was out on the roads. The Scorpio-N got sandwiched between two cars. The exact details of the incident are not available but it seems like the vehicle in front applied the brakes suddenly and the Scorpio-N could not stop in time. Another car hit the Scorpio-N from behind.

The pictures shows that the bonnet of the Scorpio-N has deformed while the tailgate has also received a dent. The front and rear bumpers are also damaged. Since the impact happened at a slow speed, none of the airbags deployed in the car. Also, no injuries were reported from this accident. All the passengers travelling in the car were safe.

Not the first Scorpio-N accident

A couple of months ago, a Mahindra Scorpio-N crashed in Mumbai. That was a high-speed accident with four passengers on-board. None of them got injureed. The vehicle was overspeeding according to the witnesses and the driver lost control of the vehicle. The Scorpio-N toppled, hit a divider and after multiple rollovers, it came to a rest on the opposite side of the road.

Mahindra Scorpio-N is yet to be NCAP crash tested

Mahindra is yet to send the all-new Scorpio-N for a Global NCAP test rating. After the five-star rated XUV700, we believed that Mahindra would take the opportunity to send the new Scorpio-N for the crash test too. However, that is yet to happen.

The top-end variant of the all-new Mahindra Scorpio-N offers safety features like six airbags, ESP, hill hold control, hill descent control, tyre pressure monitoring system, driver drowsiness detection system and more.

The Scorpio-N is based on the ladder frame, which means it gets a similar construction as the Mahindra Thar. However, since Global N-CAP’s norms have become stringent than before, we may get a different result on the Scorpio-N compared to the Mahindra Thar.

2022 Mahindra Scorpio-N

The all-new Mahindra Scorpio gets the same 2.0-litre turbo-petrol and 2.2-litre diesel that also powers the Thar and the XUV700. The petrol engine produces a maximum power of 203 PS and 370 Nm of peak torque with the manual and 380 Nm of peak torque with the automatic variant.

The 2.2-litre diesel engine produces a maximum power of 132 PS of peak power and 300 Nm of peak torque. It is also available with a higher state of tune. With the higher variants, it produces a maximum power of 175 PS and peak torque of 370 Nm with the manual and 400 Nm with the automatic. Mahindra also offers the Zip, Zap and Zoom drive modes with the diesel variant.

All the engine options offer the six-speed manual transmission as standard. The higher-spec diesel and the turbo-petrol engine are also available with six-speed automatic transmission. The Scorpio is a rear-wheel drive as standard. The higher-spec diesel variants also get AWD with mechanical rear-locking differentials, ESP-based brake-locking front differential, an independent front suspension and a five-link rear suspension.
