Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara gets more than 56,000 bookings
Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara might have entered the most competitive passenger vehicle segment in the Indian market right now. However, the SUV has already carved its fanbase in the hotly contested segment, with it amassing more than 56,000 bookings since its launch three months ago. According to Maruti Suzuki, the new Grand Vitara now accounts for almost 15 per cent of its total pending bookings.
With such a massive booking backlog, the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara has now become one of the SUVs with long waiting periods, which stretch between 2-9 months, depending on the city and variant of the SUV selected. The lowest waiting periods for the SUV are in Delhi and Bengaluru, where it is commanding 2-3 months, However, prospective buyers of the Grand Vitara from cities like Noida and Ghaziabad have to wait up to 9 months. In cities from Western and Southern India, the Grand Vitara is commanding waiting of almost 6-7 months.

The majority of the bookings of the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara have come for the lower-spec Sigma and Delta variants, which come powered by the 1.5-litre four-cylinder naturally-aspirated K15C Dualjet petrol engine. Like in other offerings from Maruti Suzuki like the Ciaz, Brezza, Ertiga and XL6, this engine delivers 103 PS of power and 136.8 Nm of torque in the Grand Vitara. Both these variants come with a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard, though the Delta variant is also offered with a 6-speed automatic gearbox.

The Grand Vitara is also available in Zeta and Alpha variants with the K15C Dualjet petrol engine and Zeta+ and Alpha+ variants with a strong petrol-electric hybrid. This more advanced powertrain delivers a maximum power output of 116 PS and claims an astonishing fuel economy of 27.97 kmpl. The Zeta and Alpha variants of the SUV are the ones which have the least waiting period. Maruti Suzuki is also offering the Grand Vitara with the option of an AllGrip all-wheel-drive system in the Alpha manual variant with the K15C Dualjet petrol engine.
Maruti Suzuki launched the Grand Vitara as a replacement model for the ageing S-Cross in September 2022. Introduced as a direct rival to the likes of Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, MG Astor, Nissan Kicks and Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, the Grand Vitara is retailed by Maruti Suzuki through the NEXA chain of premium outlets. Currently, the Grand Vitara retails between Rs 10.45 lakh to Rs 19.65 lakh (ex-showroom, India).
