According to Punjab Police, the killers of the singer used a car to follow him before shooting him, which had the registration number DL4C-NB-8483. Further investigation revealed that the registration number used on that car was fake, and it belonged to Shamsher Singh, who recently purchased a used Mahindra Scorpio with the same registration number from a renowned online portal Cars24. In his statement, Shamsher said that the culprits of the murder must have seen the pictures of his Scorpio and registration number on the online platforms, where he had put his vehicle for sale.

In his statement, Shamsher further added that his Scorpio had this registration number of Delhi (DL4C-NB-8483), which he later got transferred to his name. At the same time, the new registration number got issued on March 9, 2022.

He added that his Scorpio now has High-Security Registration Plate (HSRP) installed on his vehicle, which further strengthens his case and keeps him clear out of this whole incident. On May 29, 2022, Sidhu Moosewala, along with his close aide, was driving his black-coloured customized Mahindra Thar on the roads of Mansa village, when he got shot down by a few gangsters four kilometres away from his home. The CCTV footage shows that the Thar was being followed by two cars – a white-coloured Toyota Corolla and a white-coloured Mahindra Scorpio, which were used by the culprits.

After some time, the culprits stopped their vehicle in front of Moosewala’s Thar and fired gunshots at the vehicle, which claimed the life of the singer. In the initial investigation, it was found that these vehicles had fraudulent registration plates installed on them to hide the identity of the killers.
