‘Pro’ Pixel Tablet May Be Coming Next Year As Well

0 49

Google has announced, at this year’s Google I/O, that a Pixel tablet is coming next year. Well, the company may also be working on a ‘Pro’ variant of the Pixel Tablet, and that model may launch in 2023 as well.

A ‘Pro’ Pixel Tablet may be coming next year as well

This information comes from 9to5Google, as the site claims its “has found signs” of this. What exactly is going on? Well, the Pixel tablet that Google mentioned in May has the ‘tangor’ codename.

The source has spotted the ‘tangorpro’ codename as well, which basically points to a ‘Pro’ variant of that tablet. You may also see those codenames mentioned as ‘t6’ and ‘t6pro’.

This would not exactly be surprising. The Google Pixel 6 series comes in both regular and Pro models, and we’ve even seen the Pixel Buds Pro. We’re just not sure what will the ‘Pro’ variant bring, to make it a ‘Pro’ product.

Well, there is one detail. The source reports that the ‘Pro’ model will include a different rear camera sensor. It is still not clear what sensor will that be, though. It was previously reported that the regular Pixel tablet will come with the Sony IMX355, a sensor that is used in the Pixel 3, 4, 5, and 6a.

Based on this, could the Pixel Tablet Pro come with the ISOCELL GN1, a 50-megapixel camera used in the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro? Well, it’s possible, but we can only guess at this point.

It’s expected to offer better hardware than the regular model

We’re also expecting its hardware to be a bit different. Changing just the camera won’t exactly justify the ‘Pro’ name. Perhaps a slightly different design or materials, and more powerful internals? Such as more RAM, and a better display, perhaps.

What could happen is that Google ends up using the Google Tensor inside the Pixel Tablet, and the Tensor G2 inside the Pixel Tablet Pro. Once again, we’re only speculating here, anything is possible.

Google may mention one, or both of these tablets during its press event on October 6.
