Ring Debuts New Spotlight Cams In Battery & Solar Versions

0 47

Today, at Amazon’s services and devices event, Ring announced a trio of new Spotlight Cams. There’s the new Spotlight Cam Pro in battery and Plug-in, the Spotlight Cam Pro in Solar and the Spotlight Cam Pro Wired.

The new Ring Spotlight Cam Pro comes with 3D motion detection now. This is thanks to including radar in the cameras now. Ring is able to measure the distance and angle of an object moving in front of the camera. Customers will be able to set a threshold of when you want your camera to start detecting motion. Similar to how it works now without 3D motion.

Ring says that by adding 3D motion it is able to refine its alerts and making them more accurate. The company admits that it will be pretty tough to completely eliminate false alerts, using radar sensors on devices like cameras and doorbells allows Ring to take a significant step forward in improving notifications. This will also help to power features like the Bird’s Eye View.

The Spotlight Cam Pro now comes in many different variations, making it work better with whatever set up you might have at home. There’s the traditional wired and battery models which we’ve had for years. But Ring is also introducing the Spotlight Cam Pro Solar, and Spotlight Cam Pro Plug-in. The main difference between wired and plug-in is that the wired model uses existing wiring outside, while the Plug-In will use an outdoor outlet.

Ring says that the Spotlight Cam Pro Battery and Plug-In will cost $229, Spotlight Cam Pro Solar will be $249, and the Spotlight Cam Pro Wired doesn’t yet have a price but will ship in the coming months. While the others are available today.

There’s a new Spotlight Cam Plus too

Ring is also announcing a new Spotlight Can Plus today. It’s basically the same as the current Spotlight Cam, with a slight design change. It looks a bit chunkier now, but still does everything you’d expect. This includes two-way talk, color night vision, live view, and a security siren. Like the Spotlight Cam Pro, the Plus is also going to be rolling out in multiple power options. That includes Solar, Battery, Wired and Plug-In.

The Spotlight Cam Plus will be available today starting at $199.
