While Motorola is reportedly preparing to bring the Moto Razr (2022) foldable flip phone to Europe and the rest of the world, Samsung is getting ready to release its own top-tier foldable devices in China. The Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Z Flip 4 will bear different names and should have slight differences in design and hardware specifications.

As is tradition, Samsung will rename the Galaxy Z Fold 4 for China using the “W” branding. The revamped model is called the Samsung W23 5G and will be going on sale through China Telecom. According to a poster leaked recently, Samsung and China Telecom will bring the W23 to the masses on October 21.

A W-branded version of the Galaxy Z Flip 4 should be released on the same day

In addition to the rebranded Galaxy Z Fold 4, Samsung seemingly plans to release the Galaxy Z Flip 4 in China under the W23 Flip brand. It, too, should be announced on October 21, but pricing details — for both phones — are presently missing.

According to previous rumors, Samsung might upgrade the W23 series for China with more RAM. Both phones might be available with 16GB of RAM to have a better chance of competing with local brands that have a higher focus on sheer numbers.

Samsung has a minuscule market share in China. But, there aren’t too many foldable devices from which to choose, generally speaking, so the W-series could give the Korean tech giant an edge over the competition. We’ll have to wait a little longer to see what the W23 and W23 Flip can offer Chinese customers. Stay tuned.
