The Android 12 update has reached Samsung‘s Galaxy A22 and Galaxy A41 smartphones. Both mid-range models are currently receiving the big Android update in Russia. The rollout should expand to other countries within a few days.

The Galaxy A22 and Galaxy A41 are both picking up Samsung’s One UI 4.1 custom Android skin with this update. The new software package is identified by build numbers A225FXXU3BVD8 and A415FXXU1DVDB for the two models, respectively. They both are also getting the April security patch, which fixes over 80 vulnerabilities.

However, we are more interested in the goodies that Android 12 and One UI 4.1 bring. There are a lot of them. The latest version of Android OS introduces several key privacy features. You are now notified with a display indicator whenever an app gets access to the device’s microphone or camera. This prevents apps from sneakily recording or capturing your surrounding. If an unknown app is accessing the microphone or camera and you can’t find it, you can now cut access for all apps at once.

On top of the stock Android 12 software, Samsung has added some software tricks of its own. The company’s new Color palette feature allows you to apply your wallpaper’s color scheme to the system UI elements for a more personalized feel. The Korean firm has also added more homescreen widgets and improved the widget design. Dark mode and AOD (always on display) are getting improvements too.

Other highlights of One UI 4.1 include improved stock Samsung apps, a Grammarly-integrated Samsung keyboard, enhanced Bixby functionality, improved Bixby Routines, and some new camera features.

Samsung’s software game is unmatched in the Android space

Hardly ever a day passes without Samsung releasing a new software update to one of its smartphones or tablets. This is a testament to the company’s software commitment as well as an expansive product portfolio. Earlier today, we reported that the Galaxy S22 series is receiving its second software update in less than a month. At the same time, the Korean firm is also rolling out the Android 12 update to the Galaxy A22 and Galaxy A41.

If you use either of these Galaxy mid-rangers, the big Android update should reach you pretty soon. Watch out for a notification in the coming days. You can also head over to the Software update menu in the device’s Settings app and tap on Download and install to manually check for updates. Repeat the steps a few days later if there’s no OTA update available currently.
