Samsung’s new tool offers automation for networks using vRAN

0 22

Samsung Networks, Samsung Electronics’ communication and networking equipment manufacturing arm, has announced that it has come up with Samsung Cloud Orchestrator for the lifecycle management of vRAN (Virtualized Radio Access Network). Samsung Cloud Orchestrator is a solution that will be deployed to automate the lifecycle management of large-scale vRAN used in mobile networks.

Samsung will be able to better manage hundreds to thousands of cell sites using the SCO from a unified platform. It streamlines the onboarding, deployment, and operation processes of vRANs. It supports both public and private clouds, which ultimately offers a highly flexible scaling option for operators, that can be programmed to suit various deployment scenarios.

Samsung Cloud Orchestrator for vRAN allows network operators to improve network efficiency and flexibility

Samsung delivered SCO for virtualized RAN to Tier 1 cellular network operators in Asia, Europe, and North America. It will help them automate manually intensive tasks from the very start of the vRAN’s lifecycle. Users will be able to view and manage their network status from a single, unified platform.

The key processes of SCO for the vRAN start with onboarding, where packages will be installed at each site and automatically deployed at a scheduled time. The next deployment process involves launching a large group of vRAN packages with one click from a single location. Also, SCO for vRAN can provide automatic software upgrades, healing, and scaling to keep the stability and resistance of each network in optimal condition.

June Moon, Executive VP and Head of R&D at Samsung Networks, said, “This is part of Samsung’s goal to leverage our wide-scale commercial vRAN deployment experience to develop and introduce intuitive tools that take vRAN to the next level.”
