BTS’ Suga is now an honorary Samsung Electronics employee, the Korean star revealed through an Instagram post on Wednesday along with the caption “first-ever employee ID card in my life.” The Instagram post from Suga also showed a letter from Samsung, which welcomed the prolific songwriter, rapper, and producer.

Samsung’s second Galaxy Unpacked event of the year, held at COEX on July 26, kicked off with Agust D’s “Daechwita” single (released in 2020 along with the D-2 mixtape) playing on an introduction video featuring beautiful aerial footage of Seoul. Agust D is the alias Suga uses as an independent rapper, but his real name is Min Yoon-gi.

Suga was present at Samsung’s event, where the star briefly showcased the new Galaxy Z Flip 5. And according to the Instagram post (via KED Global), Suga is now an honorary member of Samsung Electronics’ marketing team.

Samsung wants to continue the friendship

The letter Samsung sent to Suga stated “Welcome to Galaxy Unpacked 2023. It is our honor to have you, Yoon-gi, who is so precious and thankful to us, at this very special moment, Galaxy Unpacked.” The letter also seems to end with the message “Let’s continue our friendship with you in the future.”

This isn’t the first time Suga and Samsung have collaborated. In 2021 Suga mixed the iconic Over the Horizon ringtone for Samsung to mark the release of the Galaxy Z Flip 3 and Fold 3. A year later, the artist did the same for Over the Horizon 2022 in anticipation of the Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Fold 4’s launch.

The partnership seemingly has a more official undertone now that Suga, a.k.a. Agust D, is an honorary Samsung employee with his own employee ID card. From now on, we can probably expect Suga to show up at future Galaxy Unpacked events more often.
