Nvidia RTX 50-series graphics cards: news, rumors, specs

Jacob Roach / Digital Trends Nvidia already makes some of the best graphics cards, but it’s also not resting on its laurels. Although the RTX 40-series — bolstered by a refresh — is still very recent, Nvidia is also working on its next-gen GPUs from the RTX 50-series. Although the release date of RTX 50-series GPUs is still far away, various rumors and leaks give us a better clue of what to expect. Here’s everything we know about Nvidia’s upcoming generation of graphics cards. RTX 50-series: Specs Nvidia RTX…

Apple could be seriously struggling with its next Mac chips

Apple’s chip manufacturer is “straining to meet demand” for the chips that will power future Macs, according to a report from EE Times. If these difficulties continue, it could have worrying implications for Apple with just months to go before the 3-nanometer M3 chip is set to debut. TSMC is currently manufacturing Apple’s 3nm chips (which TSMC calls N3), and the EE Times report notes that TSMC’s “tool and yield struggles have impeded the ramp to volume production.” Aside from Samsung, TSMC is the only company that…

Your next MacBook Air could be even faster than expected

Apple’s upcoming 15-inch MacBook Air could be launching sooner than expected, which is encouraging for anyone who has been waiting for this much-rumored device. But the good news doesn’t end there, as it could also get a sizeable chip upgrade that would leave rival devices in the dust. For months, it had been suggested that Apple was working on a new 15-inch version of the MacBook Air that was going to be released at a spring event. However, now that Apple has announced it will host its Worldwide Developers…

Intel hasn’t given up on GPUs, and we should all be happy

Against all odds, it appears that Intel is still on course with its next-gen graphics cards, and its plans reach far into the future. A new report tells us that Intel may have ordered a large number of GPU chips from TSMC. While Intel Arc struggles to compete against the best graphics cards, this is still great news for the GPU market as a whole — here’s why. Compared to AMD and Nvidia, Intel is still very new to the discrete GPU market, and it only has a limited number of cards up for grabs. The range is…

Nvidia is leveraging GPUs to build 2nm (and smaller) chips

As part of Nvidia’s GPU Technology Conference (GTC), the company announced a new software library that will enable 2nm and smaller transistors. The library is called cuLitho, and Nvidia has already partnered with the world’s largest semiconductor companies to use the tech, including TSMC and Synopsys. The software stack is built for computational lithography, which is the process of etching the components of a processor into a silicon wafer. Lithography has gotten more complex as the demand for smaller manufacturing…
