How Intel could win the GPU war this year

Intel Intel faced an uphill climb with Arc Alchemist, and it looks like it might have another fight ahead with its next-gen Battlemage GPUs. The competition is always fierce, and AMD and Nvidia have big plans for the year ahead. Despite the clouds that loom on the horizon, Intel might still surprise us with Battlemage — in a good way. Here’s where Intel Arc Battlemage is currently at, and why it might have a shot at being one of the best GPUs of the year. Déjà vu Prior to the release of Intel Arc Alchemist, one of…

Progress on Intel’s Battlemage GPU makes a 2024 launch seem likely

While Nvidia and AMD duke it out to be supreme GPU champion in the PC gaming world, Intel is also here. Just smiling and waving. The chip firm entered the GPU arena back in 2022, and now it’s a little closer to completing the next iteration of its Arc brand. In an interview with PC World (as spotted by PC Gamer) at CES 2024, Intel Fellow Tom Petersen said that Arc Battlemage (the follow-up to Alchemist) “is coming.” Around 30% of engineers are working on the GPU right now, “mostly on the software side.” Ideally, this all…

Intel hasn’t given up on GPUs, and we should all be happy

Against all odds, it appears that Intel is still on course with its next-gen graphics cards, and its plans reach far into the future. A new report tells us that Intel may have ordered a large number of GPU chips from TSMC. While Intel Arc struggles to compete against the best graphics cards, this is still great news for the GPU market as a whole — here’s why. Compared to AMD and Nvidia, Intel is still very new to the discrete GPU market, and it only has a limited number of cards up for grabs. The range is…
