Did Jack Black just greenlight School of Rock 2? He even has a a name for the sequel | Hollywood

In the name of rock, Jack Black is “ready” to revisit the musical comedy mayhem cooked in the 2003 hilariously gleeful flick. The School of Rock may as well be in session because the cat-fishing Mr Schneebly would love to rock and roll again. While his Primetime Emmy winning-pal and screenwriter Mike White, AKA the actual Ned Schneebly, is away wallowing in The White Lotus luxury, the Tenacious D rockstar has already suggested a killer title for the potential sequel. Jack Black is "ready" for a School of Rock…

Supermassive black hole map is nightmare fuel

Scientists have created the largest ever supermassive black hole map. The map, which is featured in a paper in The Astrophysical Journal, showcases more than 1.3 million quasars found in space and time. The furthest black hole featured in the map existed when the universe was only 1.5 billion years old, over 12 billion years ago.The map itself is showcased in a video within the paper, and it’s somewhat terrifying to think of all those supermassive black holes bounding their way through our universe, including…

Webb’s “Astonishing Discovery” of Huge Black Holes in Early Universe – “Thought To Be Impossible”

The transition in star formation rates and black hole growth as redshift decreases from regimes where positive feedback dominates to a later epoch when feedback is largely negative. CreditSteven Burrows, Rosemary Wyse, and Mitch BegelmanThe James Webb Space Telescope’s discovery of early galaxies with massive black holes challenges traditional galaxy formation theories, proposing a synchronous development of black holes and stars, a finding that could reshape our understanding of cosmic evolution.Astronomers have long…

Ghanaian Innovator Black Sherif on the Future of African Music

Preceded by a crew of gymnasts who shot fire — and themselves — high in the air, Black Sherif earned a hero’s welcome when he took the stage at the El-Wak Stadium in Accra, Ghana, to headline the AfroFuture festival last December. The event, which has become one of the hallmarks of winter celebrations in West Africa, attracted roughly 40,000 attendees across its two days, according to its founder. Black Sherif was the sole Ghanaian artist to headline, and he stands as one his country’s brightest stars thanks to his…

Quantum helium tornado in lab mimics black holes’ warped spacetime

As anyone who's ever seen a science fiction movie knows, whipping up a black hole in a laboratory doesn't seem like such a good idea. But that didn't stop researchers in England who wanted to see if they could create something in the lab that would serve as a black hole analog and give them greater insights into the way spacetime curves near the galactic gravity gobblers. So researchers from the University of Nottingham (UN), King's College London, and Newcastle University turned to vortices in fluids, which can, in some…

First-of-Its-Kind ‘Quantum Tornado’ Achieves Record-Breaking Black Hole Mimicry : ScienceAlert

A superfluid vortex controlled in a lab is helping physicists learn more about the behavior of black holes.A whirlpool generated in helium cooled to just a fraction above absolute zero mimics the gravitational environment of these objects to such high precision that it's giving unprecedented insight into how they drag and warp the space-time around them. "Using superfluid helium has allowed us to study tiny surface waves in greater detail and accuracy than with our previous experiments in water," explains physicist…
