By MICHELLE CHAPMAN (AP Business Writer) A number of Americans are dealing with cellular outages on AT&T, Cricket Wireless, Verizon, T-Mobile and other service providers, according to data from Downdetector. AT&T, who was the hardest hit, is actively working to restore service to all of its customers. AT&T had more than 58,000 outages around noon ET, in locations including Houston, Atlanta and Chicago. FDA warns against smartwatches and rings that claim to measure blood sugar without needles

Smartwatches and rings that claim to measure blood sugar levels for medical purposes without piercing the skin could be dangerous and should be avoided, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration warned Wednesday. The caution applies to any watch or ring, regardless of brand, that claims to measure blood glucose levels in a noninvasive way, the agency said. The FDA said it has not authorized any such device. The agency’s notice doesn’t apply to smartwatch apps linked to sensors, such as continuous glucose monitoring systems…

Ian’s Pizza closes in Denver

Ian’s Pizza, the small, Madison, Wisc.-based chain known for its wild toppings, said Tuesday that it has closed its Ballpark neighborhood restaurant, 2210 Blake St., for good. The spot, which opened in 2014, served pizzas with unusual toppings, including macaroni and cheese, as well as ravioli and even nachos ingredients. The news comes nearly a year after Ian’s was forced to close temporarily to deal with a major flooding problem. The temporary closure dragged on for months, though, until the restaurant finally conceded…

Ana’s Norwegian Bakeri closes 16th Street Mall, Centennial shops

Ana Fanakra sat in her bakery on the 16th Street Mall on what turned out to be its last day in business, Feb. 3, waiting for customers. But not many came, and she decided to close up early. “We had really low sales that day,” she said. “We hadn’t even made $100 yet, which was a very accurate picture of what the last couple of months looked like for us.” The next day, she decided to call it quits, closing both the original location of Ana’s Norwegian Bakeri, which opened in Centennial in June 2021, and the downtown bakery,…

Golden police 32-hour workweek improved response times

It might seem counterintuitive that reducing an employee’s time on the clock by eight hours per week, while keeping their pay the same, will boost productivity — and cause costs to drop. But data from a six-month pilot at the Golden Police Department show the force’s shortened workweek approach, which launched in July, has quickened emergency response times and saved the city $115,000 in overtime compensation. “I was pleasantly surprised,” City Manager Scott Vargo said of the results. “There’s a greater level of…

And then depression sets in over the sense that she’s setting her future self up for failure. The senior at DSST: Montview High School in Denver has joined a push at the Colorado…
