But what about the differences between the two microblogging platforms? How has Threads already distinguished itself from Twitter? How to stop spam emails

Nobody likes spam. If you're not careful, advertisements, chain letters, and other forms of spam can easily flood your inbox, and deleting them can feel like an endless game of whack-a-mole. Wouldn’t it be great to know how to stop those emails from reaching your inbox in the first place? It’s important to note, however, that you will never be able to stop all spam mail. Since sending spam is so easy, many scammers will never stop using it, even if it often doesn’t work. Still, if you take the right precautions, you…

Meta verified me to influence elections — so why pay for a checkmark?

If you ever thought Meta Verified was anything other than a money grab, this should change your mind. An unexpected thing happened on Instagram over the weekend. In hindsight, it shouldn’t have been unexpected. I’ve been using Insta since it finally became available on Android in April 2012, and for me, it’s mostly been an enjoyable experience. (That said, I’m spending more time with Glass and Vero, but that’s another thing for another time.) I’ve had a relatively high-profile job since those days, and Instagram has…

Hackers attack eFile tax prep software as deadline looms

The IRS-authorized tax preparation software service eFile.com recently suffered a JavaScript malware attack in the middle of tax season, according to BleepingComputer. The nefarious JavaScript file has been identified as popper.js and has been observed by eFile.com users as well as by security researchers.
