Nvidia finally made a tiny RTX 4000 graphics card

After months of massive graphics cards like the RTX 4090, Nvidia is finally slimming things down at its GPU Technology Conference (GTC). The RTX 4000 SFF delivers the Ada Lovelace architecture in a tiny package, but you probably won’t find it sitting among the best graphics cards. Although the RTX 4000 SFF uses the same architecture in gaming GPUs like the RTX 4080, it’s built for a very different purpose. It uses Nvidia enterprise drivers, and it’s made to power computer-aided design (CAD), graphics design, AI…

Nvidia built a massive dual GPU to power models like ChatGPT

Nvidia’s semi-annual GPU Technology Conference (GTC) usually focuses on advancements in AI, but this year, Nvidia is responding to the massive rise of ChatGPT with a slate of new GPUs. Chief among them is the H100 NVL, which stitches two of Nvidia’s H100 GPUs together to deploy Large Language Models (LLM) like ChatGPT. The H100 isn’t a new GPU. Nvidia announced it a year ago at GTC, sporting its Hopper architecture and promising to speed up AI inference in a variety of tasks. The new NVL model with its massive 94GB…

Nomad’s new Stand One charger stays exactly where you put it

Tired of your wireless charger making its own way around the desk or bedside table? The way lightweight pads can slip around, seemingly with a will of their own, can be frustrating. That’s why you need Nomad’s new Stand One. This metal and glass MagSafe charger weighs 613 grams, or just over 1 pound. It’s unlikely to shift about without quite a lot of encouragement. It’s likely a bit overkill, but is there anything really wrong with that? The Stand One’s hefty weight comes from the solid metal body and…

Nvidia is leveraging GPUs to build 2nm (and smaller) chips

As part of Nvidia’s GPU Technology Conference (GTC), the company announced a new software library that will enable 2nm and smaller transistors. The library is called cuLitho, and Nvidia has already partnered with the world’s largest semiconductor companies to use the tech, including TSMC and Synopsys. The software stack is built for computational lithography, which is the process of etching the components of a processor into a silicon wafer. Lithography has gotten more complex as the demand for smaller manufacturing…

Apple Watch Series 9: the 6 biggest things we want to see

The Apple Watch Series 8 was a bit of a boring release for Apple’s wearable, as it wasn’t a huge upgrade over the Apple Watch Series 7; Apple seemed to spend more energy focusing on the Apple Watch Ultra instead. The only real upgrades for the Series 8 were the newer-generation S8 chip and a new body temperature sensor, though the use cases for that are pretty limited. But if you didn’t have a Series 7, then the Apple Watch Series 8 was still a great upgrade for those coming from older models. We’re still a few…
