Doroni unveils production-intent H1-X eVTOL for personal air travel

Young urban air mobility (UAM) developer Doroni Aerospace is stepping out of the shadows and into the eVTOL startup with the official reveal of its flagship aircraft – the H1-X. The two-seat eVTOL was showcased during a livestream event today and is damn close to being market-ready, touting some impressive specs. Doroni Aerospace was founded in 2016 by Doron Merdinger – a lifelong entrepreneur with 25 years of design, manufacturing, and firm management expertise. To bring his dreams of sustainable…

Doroni announces fan-in-wing, cruise-capable buy ‘n’ fly eVTOL

After making its first manned eVTOL flight last June, Florida's Doroni Aerospace has announced its next model. The H1X rocks coaxial ducted fans and pusher props, and targets 120 mph (200 km/h) cruise speeds for up to 40 minutes.Interestingly, that's a little slower than the targets laid out in 2022 for the original Doroni H1. But the H1X is also a little lighter at 1,350 lb (612 kg), and capable of carrying the same 500 lb (200 kg) of payload between the pilot and passenger seats and whatever luggage you're carrying. As…

Doroni celebrates its first manned eVTOL flight

Doroni has hit a milestone in the development of its two-seat, US$195,000 buy 'n' fly eVTOL aircraft. Recently, CEO Doron Merdinger was confident enough to hop in and put his own butt on the line, taking a prototype for its first manned flight. The H1 is an interesting-looking design – a bubble cabin lifted by eight large, ducted coaxial propellers mounted into front and rear wings of roughly equal size. As with some other buy 'n' fly personal eVTOLs like the SkyFly Axe and Air One, these wings are tilted upwards; it'll…

Doroni opens orders on its H1 personal lift & cruise eVTOL

Doroni says it's just months away from a full-scale, flying prototype of its H1 two-seat personal eVTOL design. Where most in this space build the simplest and cheapest multicopter-style airframes possible, the H1 offers dedicated horizontal thrust, too.The H1 is certainly a peculiar looking bird: a two-seat bubble of a cockpit, sandwiched between large front and rear wings. These wings are dominated by enormous ducts sunk into them, each housing a pair of large, contra-rotating vertical lift props, for a total of eight.…
