The Gray Man Movie Review: A $200 Million Dud From the Avengers: Endgame Directors

The Gray Man — out Friday on Netflix — brings the Russo Brothers, directors of Avengers: Endgame and Avengers: Infinity War, back into big-budget action filmmaking. And they have all the right ingredients at their disposal. For one, they are working with the writers behind those Avengers movies, Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, who have shown themselves capable of handling unwieldy material. By contrast, The Gray Man — based on Mark Greaney's 2009 eponymous novel — is thin and straightforward. In Ryan Gosling, they…

Nissan Leaf, EV pioneer and sales dud, is reportedly on the chopping block

The Nissan Leaf, a pioneer electric vehicle and one of the cheapest EVs currently on the market, is nearing the end of its life span. According to a report in Automotive News, Nissan does not plan on introducing a next-generation version of the Leaf and may even discontinue the nameplate altogether. Production of the current version of the Leaf is set to wind down by mid-decade, the outlet reports, citing three anonymous sources. In the report, a spokesperson for Nissan declined to speculate on the Leaf’s future but…

Streaming Subscribers Resurrect a Demonic Denzel Washington Dud

via Warner Bros. During his lengthy reign as one of the most popular and bankable stars in the industry, Denzel Washington has tackled virtually every genre under the sun, but it would be fair to say that horror has hardly been his stock-in-trade. When he did dip his toes into those waters with 1998’s Fallen, though, the end result was crushingly disappointing and massively underwhelming. The supernatural psychological thriller has a decent premise, with Washington’s dogged detective being present at the…

A Sun-Kissed and Sexy Action Comedy Dud Seeks a Streaming Bounty

via Warner Bros. What happens when you take two beautiful leads, place them against sun-drenched backdrops that require as little clothing as you can get away with in a PG-13 setting, and drop them into an action-packed romantic comedy featuring buried treasure, double-crosses, and a star-studded supporting cast? Based on Fool’s Gold, nothing even approaching a good movie. Matthew McConaughey and Kate Hudson reunited in an attempt to recapture their sizzling chemistry from beloved rom-com How to Lose a Guy in 10…

Netflix Viewers March Into Bloody Battle With a Forgotten Historical Dud

via Focus Features The post-Gladiator resurgence of the historical epic was pretty much dead in the water a decade later, but that didn’t stop plenty of swords-and-sandals stories from continuing to emerge. One of the many that was completely forgotten about as a result was Kevin Macdonald’s The Eagle, which came bearing some impressive pedigree before sinking without a trace. The director’s previous two features had been critical and commercial success stories The Last King of Scotland and State of Play, so a…

Viewers Revisit a Nicolas Cage Dud Known for Mullets and Bad Photoshop

It goes without saying at this stage that Nicolas Cage has been in plenty of terrible movies over the decades, even if he resolutely claims to have never phoned in a single performance. Sometimes, these cinematic abominations can even make it to the top of the box office, although there should be an asterisk placed next to the success of Bangkok Dangerous. In most cases, you’d think that debuting at number one would be something worth shouting about, but the 2008 action thriller managed to reach the summit with a…
