Cybertruck goes on public display ahead of imminent launch

Tesla CEO Elon Musk behind the wheel of a Cybertruck. Tesla We’re just a week away from Tesla delivering the first Cybertrucks to customers, and the automaker has started to put the vehicle on public display ahead of the launch. A Cybertruck was recently spotted outside Lincoln Center in New York City, for example, while another has appeared at Tesla’s store in the Westfield UTC Mall in San Diego. Visitor John W. Davis shot a video of the Cybertruck at the mall and shared it on YouTube: Tesla Cybertruck on Public…

Cadillac Optiq is the luxury brand’s new entry-level EV

Cadillac Cadillac will add an entry-level electric SUV to its lineup in 2024. The Cadillac Optiq is a “luxury compact SUV” slotting below the Lyriq in the brand’s EV hierarchy. Photos released with the brief announcement show styling features that tie the Optiq to the larger Lyriq, such as split taillights, but other details won’t be released until closer to the Optiq’s launch. It’s a safe bet that the Optiq will draw on the same General Motors Ultium component set as the Lyriq and other Cadillac EVs. The Ultium name…

Tesla u-turns on controversial rule for Cybertruck resellers

Tesla CEO Elon Musk behind the wheel of a Cybertruck. Tesla Tesla has removed a clause in its purchase agreement that said it could sue Cybertruck owners for at least $50,000 if they tried to sell it on within a year after purchase without first getting written agreement from the company. The clause threatening to take action against resellers of the Cybertruck, which launches on November 30, was added to the agreement last week and was viewable online. It even said that resellers may be prevented from buying Tesla…

Tesla Model Y vs Nissan Ariya: Which EV crossover wins?

Stephen Edelstein / Digital Trends Nissan has been a little slow to the punch when it comes to electrification (besides the Leaf, of course). But now, it’s finally starting to electrify its lineup with the new Nissan Ariya. The Ariya is a crossover similar in size to the likes of the Ford Mustang Mach-E, the Kia EV6, and, of course, the Tesla Model Y. If you’re in the market for a new electric car, you might be wondering whether you should go for the now-everywhere Tesla Model Y or stick with the newer Nissan Ariya.…

Tesla’s Cybertruck finally gets a delivery date

Tesla CEO Elon Musk behind the wheel of a Cybertruck in August. Tesla Tesla has finally revealed the delivery date for the Cybertruck: November 30. The automaker led by Elon Musk announced the date in a post on X. The event will take place at Tesla’s Cybertruck Gigafactory in Austin, Texas. The announcement follows Musk’s promise in April that the delivery event would take place in the third quarter, but that came and went without an update. If previous Tesla launches are anything to go by, the long-awaited event at…

2025 Buick Electra price, release date, range, and more

The Electra is making a comeback. Buick has announced that it’s bringing back the classic Electra — but unlike the gas-powered Electra last seen in 1990, the new car is set to be Buick’s first electric offering. The first of the new Electra models is set to be the 2025 Electra E5 SUV, a car that’s powered by General Motors’ Ultium platform, and should be another long-range electric car that doesn’t break the bank — at least compared to the competition. The car has been announced, but there’s still a lot we don’t know…

Tesla shows off first Cybertruck after two years of delays

The first Cybertruck built at Tesla’s Giga Texas facility. Tesla Tesla has shown off the first Cybertruck to roll off the production line at its new Gigafactory plant in Austin, Texas. The automaker tweeted a photo of the all-electric pickup surrounded by the personnel who helped to build it. Production of the Cybertruck has been delayed by around two years, so the sight of the fully built vehicle will give some welcome relief to early buyers who’ve been waiting patiently for the keys to their new vehicle. Tesla CEO…

Tesla Q2 delivery record shows its EV price cuts are working

Tesla surprised Wall Street in the second quarter, delivering a record 466,140 vehicles globally. Bloomberg said analysts had expected Tesla to ship just over 448,000 vehicles. The electric-vehicle (EV) maker led by Elon Musk announced the notable figures on Sunday. Second-quarter earnings will be released on July 19. Most of the deliveries involved the Model 3 sedan and Model Y crossover, with a total of 446,915 delivered. The more expensive Model X and Model S vehicles saw a combined delivery count of 19,225. The…

Tesla Cybertruck: rumored price, release date, specs

Tesla First introduced in 2019, the Tesla Cybertruck is unlike any pickup we’ve ever seen. It’s electric, which isn’t entirely unusual, and frankly expected from Tesla, but its futuristic design makes it stand out from everything else on the road. Whether that’s a good or a bad thing is a matter of personal preference, and keep in mind we haven’t seen the final, production-bound version yet. Tesla often makes tweaks to its cars before production, however, we may not have to wait long — as Tesla says the truck will…

EVs won’t go mainstream until there’s a Kia Seltos of EVs

EVs are finally growing in popularity. There are now plenty of models available, and they’re quite good — from the Kia EV6 to the Rivian R1S, to the Ford Mustang Mach-E. But there’s one thing that almost every practical EV has in common — they cost at least $35,000. And, there are really only a few models that dip to that price. That’s kind of a problem. Of course, it’s completely to be expected. In the grand scheme of things, electric vehicles are still relatively new, and carmakers have invested billions into…
