Fallout: New Vegas

Every Fallout game, ranked best to worst

If you ask people, “What’s your go-to nuclear post-apocalyptic story?” Most will probably say Fallout; the action role-playing franchise that has been around for more than two decades and is now considered one of the most influential game series of all time. Fallout is one of those massively successful and recognizable names that had very humble beginnings. It may not be as dramatic a tale as two broke programmers grinding in sweat and tears, day and night, to come up with an era-defining masterpiece, but that first game…

Bethesda is launching a huge Fallout anthology collection just before the TV show airs

The TV adaptation of Fallout is due to air on April 12. To celebrate this – and because you need more Fallout in your life – Bethesda is launching an anthology of all the games in the series. The S.P.E.C.I.A.L. (my word, is that a pain to type out!) Anthology set is launching April 11 and comes with a total of seven games. You’ll get Fallouts 1-4, New Vegas, 76, and even the 2001 release Tactics. To cap it off, the set will arrive in a mini-nuke that makes an “audible bomb” sound when you open it. I can’t see how…

New Vegas mod returns seven years later

You can take the Fallout: New Vegas out of the silly, but you can’t take the silly out of Fallout: New Vegas. Or something like that. At any rate, someone has managed to make modding history by finding an old file that was thought to have been lost to the annals of time. This one is very much for you late ’90s/early 2000s nu-metal fans. As spotted by PC Gamer, Twitch streamer Micky D (via Twitter user UsagiCola) has re-uploaded a mod for NV that adds Fred Durst of Limp Bizkit fame as a companion. Whenever you…

Fallout New Vegas dev says studio once pitched an Elder Scrolls spin-off

Chris Avellone, the former chief creative officer and co-founder of Fallout: New Vegas developer Obsidian Entertainment, has revealed that the company tried to make an Elder Scrolls game in a similar vein. In a thread confirming an old tweet uncovered by 80 Level, Avellone discussed details about the proposal. This is true. One of the Elder Scrolls proposals (which I pitched) was intended to serve the same function as FNV did between F3 and F4, to provide more adventures in the setting during the years before the next…

8 best sci-fi games to play if you liked Apple TV+’s Silo

Adapted from author Hugh Howey’s series of books, showrunner Graham Yost’s Silo wrapped up an impressive first season on Apple TV+. The Rebecca Ferguson-led sci-fi thriller brought to screen a captivating world filled with tantalizing mysteries, but there are plenty of video games for fans to get more of their dystopian fix. These kinds of worlds and stories are ripe for immersion and deeply layered worldbuilding, as many talented developer studios have made their mark on the dystopian sci-fi subgenre. From Bethesda…

The worst PC ports of all time — and why they were so bad

It’s been a bad year for PC ports so far, but it’s easy to forget that PCs have never been the premier platform for game releases. There’s a storied history of terrible PC ports, and although we’re still seeing some big problems today, the games releasing now are a far cry from what we’ve seen in years past. I figured it was a good time to look back at some of the worst PC ports we’ve seen. This isn’t an exhaustive list — there are dozens of games that have released broken on PC — but these are the worst offenders.…
