NASA awards Firefly Aerospace $112 million contract for far-side moon lander

NASA on Tuesday said it had picked U.S. rocket builder Firefly Aerospace to put a lander on the moon's far side in 2026, under a nearly $112 million contract."The commercial lander will deliver two agency payloads, as well as communication and data relay satellite for lunar orbit, which is an ESA (European Space Agency) collaboration with NASA," the U.S. space agency said. The contract is part of the Artemis program's Commercial Lunar Payload Services (CLPS) initiative - an effort to deploy privately built lunar landers

TERRIFYING! ‘Extremely rare’ farside CME blast sparks solar storm on Earth, NASA says

A strange incident occurred in the early hours of yesterday, March 13. The NASA Solar and Heliospheric Observatory (SOHO) detected that after a huge explosion, a powerful wave of coronal mass ejection (CME) escaped from the surface of the Sun. This event should not have concerned the Earth under normal circumstances since the event took place on the farside of the Sun (the side of the Sun opposite to the Earth). However, the CME blast was deemed extremely rare as it was traveling at a mind-numbing speed of 3000

Turn, Turn, Turn! Explosion on Sun’s farside raises solar storm threat for Earth?

A huge blast was spotted coming out from the farside of the Sun. This blast site will face the Earth in about a week. Can it send a dangerous solar storm to Earth? Just a couple of days ago, the Earth suffered the Halloween-day solar storm attack from our Sun that appeared to have a scary smiley plastered on it face due to some dark spots emerging suddenly on its surface. These dark spots (also known as sunspots) are sites with extremely high magnetic fields which get destabilized and explode. This is how the coronal
