The $450 billion “minibus” spending bill passed the House Wednesday in a 339-85 vote, with nearly all Democrats and 132 Republicans voting in favor. Members of the far-right House Freedom Caucus voiced their consternation at the compromise. The hardline group released a joint statement Tuesday encouraging other Republicans to vote…

Trump Rails on Migrants, Gov. Newsom in Rambling CPAC Speech

Former President Donald Trump spoke at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in National Harbor, Maryland, on Saturday. The event precedes the South Carolina primary results expected later on Saturday, where he is predicted to defeat his competitor, former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley and the former South Carolina governor, in her home state. The hour-and-a-half rambling speech covered his typical gamut, where he touted his cognitive abilities while demeaning President Biden’s; defended Jan. 6…

NSC-131 Neo-Nazis Swarm Gov. Healey’s Home In Dark Protest

Dozens of Neo-Nazis demonstrated outside the home of Massachusetts Gov. Maura Healey (D) on Saturday night, in an intimidating display of hate. Members of the group NSC-131 — which seeks to create a white-only ethnostate in New England — marched Saturday night through the Boston suburb of Arlington, uniformed in khakis, black jackets, face masks, and baseball caps.  The NSC-131 members moved under cover of darkness, co-opting the progressive activist chant, “Whose streets? Our streets!” The neo-Nazis then lined up…

Gov. Gavin Newsom goes viral for ‘shoplifting’ at Target

Gov.Gavin Newsom has gone viral for shoplifting at Target. Well, sort of.The governor didn’t actually steal anything. But as he tells it, he did witness someone blatantly walking out of a Sacramento-area store with an armload of stolen stuff, presumably right in front of his own intimidating-looking security detail. And when Newsom asked why no one was taking action, the clerk told him it was the governor’s fault.Newsom has made it too easy to steal, he said the clerk told him — before realizing who he was and freaking…

Gov. Newsom disagrees with bid to keep Trump off California ballot

Many leading California Democrats have been clamoring to jettison Donald Trump from the state’s election ballot, but Gov. Gavin Newsom has made it clear he is against the move.“There is no doubt that Donald Trump is a threat to our liberties and even to our democracy,” Newsom said, “but in California, we defeat candidates at the polls. Everything else is a political distraction.”Newsom’s terse statement on Friday runs counter to the position taken by Lt. Gov. Eleni Kounalakis and nine state lawmakers, who have pushed to…

Gov. Jared Polis gets few takers in call for more property tax relief

After a bruising, losing battle over Proposition HH, a breakneck special session and a public plea from Gov. Jared Polis for local governments to lower their property tax rates, further relief appears to be a trickle more than a torrent for Coloradans. Few local officials have taken up Polis’ request so far, including in metro Denver. And Douglas County, which separately had pursued a 4% across-the-board cut to residential property values, was rebuffed Monday when a unanimous state board rejected the move, citing fairness…

Opinion: How did California’s Gov. Newsom fare against his Florida rival, Gov. DeSantis?

What the hell was that?Ostensibly, Thursday’s debate between California Gov. Gavin Newsom, who is not running for president, and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, who is, was supposed to be an exploration of the ideological differences between the two chief executives. Opinion Columnist Robin Abcarian After all, one is the embodiment of progressive, blue state policies and a high-profile surrogate for President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris. The other represents the younger, less orange…

Fox News’ Sean Hannity on his unlikely relationship with Gov. Newsom

Sean Hannity and Gavin Newsom are an unlikely cable news bromance. The conservative Fox News host and the Democratic California governor are ideologically polar opposites. But their recent joint appearances — an hourlong sitdown in June and a lengthy interview after the second Republican presidential candidates’ debate on Sept. 27 at the Ronald Reagan Library — offered a robust but cordial discussion of issues, a rarity these days in a media landscape where politicians and advocates are more comfortable preaching to…
