The best GPU to upgrade to from an RTX 3060

Digital Trends Nvidia’s RTX 3060 is a certified legend. It’s the most popular graphics card in gaming PCs, according to the Steam hardware survey, and that makes sense. For gamers playing at 1080p, you can’t ask for more than what the RTX 3060 offers between its low price, 12GB of VRAM, and features like Nvidia’s Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS). But where do you go from there? If you picked up an RTX 3060 over the last couple of years and you’re looking to take your PC gaming to the next level, I rounded up the…

Helldivers 2 PC performance: best settings, performance

Helldivers 2 marks the first time PlayStation Studios has launched a game on PC and consoles at the same time, and it’s not off to the best start. Helldivers 2 is very impressive from a visual and performance perspective, but crashing and matchmaking issues are currently souring the experience for some players. I’ve been playing the game a bit, and I’m here to run down the best settings for Helldivers 2 on PC that I’ve found. We’ll also talk a bit about performance overall, as well as the interesting upscaling…

The best GPUs if you’re upgrading from a GTX 1650

Jacob Roach / Digital Trends Nvidia’s GTX 1650 is nothing short of a legendary graphics card. The humble, budget-focused GPU has achieved a massive status among PC gamers, sitting at the top of the Steam hardware survey for years. It’s taken a back seat to Nvidia’s newer RTX 3060 in recent months, but it’s still owned by around 4% to 5% of gamers who take part in the Steam hardware survey. It’s starting to age out of relevance, however. The GTX 1650 is four years old, and it’s struggling to keep up with modern games…

The prices of some GPUs are rapidly dropping

Jacob Roach / Digital Trends It shouldn’t come as a surprise, but the prices of some of the best graphics cards are rapidly dropping. We just got off a month of hardware launches, spearheaded by Nvidia’s RTX 40-series Super refresh, and those launches have caused some major shifts in the prices of older GPUs. The most prominent example of that is the RTX 4070 Ti. Nvidia released its RTX 4070 Ti Super about two weeks ago. The Super version is set to replace the base model, but plenty of units remain in stock. Now, you…

Nvidia RTX 4080 Super vs. AMD RX 7900 XTX: game over

Jacob Roach / Digital Trends Whether you pick the RTX 4080 Super or the RX 7900 XTX, you’re getting a powerful GPU that’s capable of seamless gaming at 4K. But which one is better for the money? There used to be a clear answer to that question when we were only dealing with the RTX 4080, but the release of its Super successor made it a lot less straightforward. Both the RTX 4080 Super and the RX 7900 XTX are among the best graphics cards that money can buy. While they’re close in performance, they’re not exactly the…

Nvidia RTX Video HDR converts SDR to HDR on RTX graphics cards

Nvidia has released version 551.23 of GeForce Game Ready Driver, which brings a new feature for RTX-series graphics cards: RTX Video HDR. This feature converts SDR content to HDR content using artificial intelligence (AI). In a video demonstrating the feature, Nvidia says “RTX Video HDR works on most streamed video.” Folks at The Verge have tested the feature and found it to work in Microsoft Edge and Google Chrome (most likely while streaming videos on YouTube). According to them, RTX Video HDR makes a difference.…

Gamers aren’t buying AMD’s RX 7600 XT — but there’s a catch

Jacob Roach / Digital Trends AMD’s new RX 7600 XT graphics card isn’t off to a great start, at least according to sales data shared by 3DCenter. The new video card launched on Wednesday alongside Nvidia’s RTX 4070 Ti Super, and even with a relatively poor reception, Nvidia sold nearly 10 times as many graphics cards as AMD did in a sampling at a German retailer. There are a few caveats to that, however. 3DCenter takes data for the number of sales from Mindfactory, a German hardware retailer, 12 to 14 hours after…

Nvidia RTX 4060 vs. AMD RX 7600 XT: shocking results

Jacob Roach / Digital Trends The market for graphics cards around $300 is getting crowded, and the two frontrunners among the best graphics cards are Nvidia’s RTX 4060 and AMD’s RX 7600 XT. Both cards are around the same price, and they offer similar performance, so choosing between them isn’t easy. I’ve tested both cards extensively — read my RTX 4060 review and RX 7600 XT review for the full breakdown — and they’re remarkably close. It’s hard to go wrong with either GPU, but after comparing them extensively,…
