Revoy electric trailer rolls into Port of Stockton, CA

Revoy EV’s electric trailer promises to make electrifying your OTR trucking fleet easy and cost-effective, and this one just pulled into the Port of Stockton ahead of the 2024 Trucking with Clean Fuels Conference. By packing batteries and an electric drive axle into a tandem trailer that fits between a conventional semi truck and trailer, Revoy EV claims it can “electrify” a diesel truck fleet quickly and easily, effectively cutting a fleet’s fuel bill in half. When we covered the concept last month, we…

Battery powered trailer boost range, efficiency — for $120,000 less

The RA electric trailer from Range Energy promises to turn your diesel truck into a hybrid or extend the range of your electric semi – and now it qualifies for a $120,000 voucher in California. California’s Clean Off-Road Equipment (CORE) Voucher Project aims to make it easier for commercial fleets to decarbonize. Last July, Range became the first trailer electrification platform to be accepted into CORE with an $80,000 rebate. This year, Range Energy bumped its largest battery offering to 300 kWh.…

Pompano Beach add Mack electric garbage truck to fleet

The streets of Pompano Beach, Florida will be cleaner and quieter than ever starting this week, thanks to a new, all-electric Mack LR waste truck that was delivered last week! The city revealed the new truck in Coastal Waste & Recycling colors at a local e-mobility event last week. It’s the South Florida city’s first electric garbage truck — but won’t be its last. “We see this as a pivotal moment in our commitment to sustainability. Partnering with Mack Trucks and our dealer network, Nextran Truck…

Biagi Bros. posts pictures of its ten Nikola hydrogen semis

Just hours after Nikola announced that it had completed the first North American deliveries of its hydrogen fuel cell electric semi trucks, Biagi Bros. Logistics took to social media to post pictures of its new fleet of Nikolas. Plural. While we’ve seen a few stories about Nikola’s HFCEV semi trucks in recent weeks, all those pictures of trucks looked kind of alike. Like, if you were a NKLA skeptic, they looked enough alike that you could squint and convince yourself that they were all pictures of the…

New Jersey offers $50,000 V2B electric school bus incentive

Electric school buses; via NJ.com. New Jersey recently announced a $45 million, three-year pilot program to put electric school buses to work in 18 school districts – and it’s offering up to $50,000 more for buses with the ability to power the schools. New Jersey’s Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) opened the grant application program this month, and has held three recent webinars to help walk participants through the application process. Interestingly, the February 14th webinar…

Germany pulls the plug on subsidies for electric trucks

Like it did with passenger EV rebates back in December, Germany has decided to pull the plug on subsidy programs for electric semi trucks and city buses. What happens to the nation’s commercial EV market now? If you’re a regular Electrek reader, you probably believe that Germany acted prematurely when it cut its EV subsidy program in December (a full year earlier than expected). Combined with rapid global inflation driving up vehicle prices and governments throughout the EU pouring money into hydrogen…

Meet GUSS – an electric, autonomous sprayer from John Deere

Building on the success of the autonomous GUSS sprayer launched in 2023, this fully electric and autonomous sprayer co-developed with John Deere allows growers to manage multiple sprayers remotely. The new Electric GUSS made its debut last week at the 2024 World Ag Expo in Tulare, California, where executives from Deere called it, “the world’s first and only fully electric autonomous herbicide orchard sprayer.” GUSS’ new electric sprayer also features the new Smart Apply weed detection system that…

Volvo CE puts electric equipment to work on fossil-free ski resort

Electric vehicles don’t work well in the cold? Nobody told Volvo CE – and they’re putting a fleet of battery electric equipment assents to work, collaborating with Sweden’s largest ski resorts to go fully fossil free. Volvo CE has been working on a pilot project with Swedish resort company SkiStar to develop a roadmap towards more sustainable, fossil-free ski resorts. The project is intended to show that climate-neutral construction projects are possible when applying holistic decarbonization solutions…

Even the ‘drill, baby, drill’ guys realize electric is the way to go!

Swedish equipment brand Sandvik announced a new battery electric surface drill rig in a bid to create more efficient, cost-effective drilling operations. And, yes – the irony here is delicious! In fairness, plenty of drill operations use permanent grid connections (read: wired plugs) t operate their drillers – and there are plenty of reasons to drill that don’t involve oil and gas extraction. That said, it’s got to absolutely kill the “drill, baby, drill” people to see highly efficient electric drill…

Doosan Bobcat announces first-ever 3-ton hydrogen forklift

Doosan Bobcat is moving ahead with plans to hydrogenate (?) the Korean material handling fleet, announcing its first-ever hydrogen fuel cell-powered electric forklift, and plans to put 30 of the HFCEV forklifts in operation this year. The Doosan Hydrogen B35X-7P is effectively a 3-ton Bobcat electric forklift equipped with a 20 kW fuel cell instead of a battery – and it’s set for delivery to the Korea Zinc Onsan refinery in Ulsan, Korea. And while prototypes and concepts of HFC forklifts have been shown…
