Data Protection Bill: Opposition MPs flag concerns about revised Data Bill, propose 40 changes
Several members of a Parliamentary panel have raised concerns over the draft Digital Data Protection (DPDP) Bill, 2022, and have mooted close to 40 amendments, ET has learnt.Some of the concerns raised by Opposition party MPs of the Standing Committee on Information Technology (IT) include excessive centralisation of power, a lack of independence of the Data Protection Board, blanket exemptions to some data fiduciaries and unchecked exceptions provided to the government in the draft Bill.Members have also expressed…
