More long-term Netflix subscribers are canceling their subscriptions, according to a report from The Information. Survey data viewed by the outlet revealed that subscribers who have been with the service for more than three years accounted for 13 percent of cancellations in the first quarter of 2022. The Information says it got its data from Antenna, an analytics firm that gathers data from 5 million Americans who share their streaming subscriptions anonymously. The data showed that overall cancellations hit 3.6…

The metaverse, which is build using blockchain, augmented reality and virtual reality technologies, among others, drew attention at first, but chief executives from top firms don’t see short-term value in it. A…

Insight Mars Lander Losing Power, Will See Dusty Demise in July, Says NASA

A NASA spacecraft on Mars is headed for a dusty demise. The Insight lander is losing power because of all the dust on its solar panels. NASA said Tuesday it will keep using the spacecraft's seismometer to register marsquakes until the power peters out, likely in July. Then flight controllers will monitor InSight until the end of this year, before calling everything off.“There really hasn't been too much doom and gloom on the team. We're really still focused on operating the spacecraft,” said Jet Propulsion Laboratory's…

This is why you’re losing money

If you had invested £100 (US$122) in the cryptocurrency Luna a month ago, you might have been quietly confident you’d made a sensible bet. But Luna’s value has since fallen drastically – at the time of writing, that £100 is worth around 4p (5¢). Luna was by no means the only victim in a week where cryptocurrencies were down 30%. Some have recovered to a certain extent, but this still represents an aggregate seven-day loss of over US$500 million (£410 million), prompting existential questions…

In Resurrection’s first trailer Rebecca Hall is steadily losing her mind

Of all the movies I watched at the Sundance Film Festival this year, the one that stuck with me the most is Resurrection. That’s mostly because of just how intense and unsettling the film is — and now you can get a taste of that via the first trailer. Resurrection stars Rebecca Hall as a woman whose well-ordered life is upended after a former partner (Tim Roth) unexpectedly appears. In some ways, it’s a standard thriller, with pressure steadily mounting on Hall’s character until it’s almost too much to take. But what…

Matt Damon’s crypto ad blamed for losing people money

While the crash of bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies is terrible news for investors, it’s also a worrisome development for Matt Damon and his  reputation as a nice-guy movie star. “The Martian” actor is getting roasted on Twitter for a now infamous 60-second TV ad featured during NFL playoff games and the Super Bowl earlier this year, encouraging people to invest in cryptocurrency. Damon hailed people’s investment in cryptocurrency as the next great human endeavor, as historically game changing as the Wright Brothers…

Google’s Pixel 6a is losing the 5a’s best feature

Google finally announced the Pixel 6a today at Google I/O. Following up on both the Pixel 5a and Pixel 6, the new Pixel promises to bring the best of what Google has offered in the past year at a lower price. With Tensor powering the 6a, this is set to be the most powerful cheap Pixel yet. But despite what Google says, the Pixel 6’s battery life for many is bad — and the same Tensor that’s in the Pixel 6a could be to blame. When I reviewed the Pixel 6 over a long-term period for Digital Trends, I noticed that the…
