The Megami Tensei series is best known as a series of games by Atlus, which would eventually expand to Shin Megami Tensei, which includes the Persona series. The series actually began being based on a series of novels by Aya…

Atlus shares 30th anniversary Shin Megami Tensei art – Destructoid

Three decades of demons Atlus has shared a new piece of 30th anniversary Shin Megami Tensei art on their official Twitter account, and they have a lot to celebrate. That’s three decades of demon summoning, spinoffs, and success wrapped up in one tweet, with a few classic demons worked into the logo (like Jack Frost, Pyro Jack, and Pixie) to boot. As Atlus points out, the series began in Japan on October 30, 1992: a sufficiently spooky release window, inline with the dark themes that the series typically plays with.…

Atlus is suing fans who recreated defunct Shin Megami Tensei MMO – Destructoid

MM(n)O Publisher Atlus has taken the somewhat brutish step of filing suit against a party of Shin Megami Tensei fans who allegedly created an unofficial server for the now-defunct SMT MMO, Imagine. In related news, a fan server, titled “ReImagine” has been operating since 2020, but has now, understandably, been taken offline. The suit was initially spotted by Twitter user “Marsh”. According to the lawsuit, (viewable here at CourtListener) Atlus is seeking around $25,000 per copyright violation, citing the “irreparable…

Homemade Shin Megami Tensei Demons – Destructoid

I’m Already a Demon (Summoner) I’ll be honest, I’ve been stumped for a while trying to come up with a fitting theme for this Destructoid Draws. So far, the Encore series has been trying to mirror the original one. Dream Crossovers was the tock to Favorite Franchises’ tick. Favorite Sidekicks naturally followed from Favorite Villains. And, uh… we did Guilty Gear twice. As a treat. But this time around, I did not know how to follow up the fourth ever Destructoid Draws: OC Mega Man Robot Masters. That one was something…
