A ‘Metroid Prime’ Switch remaster will reportedly launch this year

Further rumours of critically acclaimed GameCube title Metroid Prime making its way to Switch have yet again started circulating.  This most recent claim comes from VentureBeat journalist Jeff Grubb, who disclosed the information via Giant Bomb’s Game Mess Morning Show. He stated that he had been told “pretty definitively” that a remastered version of the game would be coming to Switch later this year, and would be one of Nintendo’s flagship holiday releases for 2022. John Cena repeatedly talked about a new 2D Metroid years ago

“John loves it” I wouldn’t have gone out of my way to make a John Cena Metroid connection, but it’s there! You might recall this pre-launch event to promote the Switch five years ago, that involved at least one celebrity: John Cena included. Well it turns out that other than being a general Nintendo fan, he was also a Metroid fanatic. According to games writer and former WWE producer Dan Ryckert, Cena was all about the series. During the event in 2017, it’s reported that Cena “repeatedly” told Nintendo reps that he…

John Cena asked Nintendo for a new 2D ‘Metroid’ in 2017

American professional wrestler and actor John Cena apparently told Nintendo how much he wanted a new 2D Metroid when the Nintendo Switch launched, and got Metroid Dread as a result. The Peacemaker star took part in a photoshoot ahead of the Nintendo Switch’s 2017 launch, and over five years later it’s come to light that he urged Nintendo at the time to make another 2D Metroid game. Giant Bomb creative director Dan Ryckert shared the story, writing: “Cena repeatedly told the Nintendo reps how much he wanted a new 2D…

‘Another Metroid 2 Remake’ team is making a completely new metroidvania

Squid Shock Studios has reunited to work on a new Metroidvania project, called Bo: Path Of The Teal Lotus, a hand-drawn title based on Japanese folklore and inspired by the likes of Paper Mario and Okami. The game’s protagonist, Bō, adventures to uncover a powerful shogun that is leaving a trail of secrets and mystery behind them. Bō, a Tentaihana, or celestial blossom, uses a lethal shape-shifting staff to defeat powerful enemies, but she’ll also need to use dash, grapple and hover skills to overcome obstacles in her…

Nintendo’s reportedly contacted a YouTuber to remove their ‘Metroid’ music

A YouTube content creator has said that Nintendo’s lawyers contacted them over the phone, reportedly forcing them to remove a series of game covers and remixes. YouTuber SynaMax uploaded a video earlier this week (June 14) about Nintendo coming after his remixes and covers of tracks from the Metroid Prime series. The video itself was transcribed and reported by VGC. “On May 31, a lawyer representing Nintendo called me and asked me to take down nine videos off the channel,” said SynaMax. “A recreation cover, or just a…

Metroid Prime 4: Everything We Know

It's been nearly 15 years since Metroid Prime 3: Corruption hit the Nintendo Wii back in 2007, and another five since its follow-up, Metroid Prime 4, was first announced. With all this buildup, it feels safe to say the upcoming sci-fi adventure game is one of the most-anticipated titles coming to the Nintendo Switch. However, for all the hype surrounding the game, there's just as much mystery. The long-awaited sequel has gone through a bit of a tumultuous development period, even restarting development…
