Ahead of the animated film’s release on June 15, Elemental has amassed a 57 percent critics’ score on Rotten Tomatoes, which so far places it as the second lowest-scoring Pixar film in front of 2011’s Cars 2.  Elemental is helmed by The Good Dinosaur director Peter Sohn, and stars Leah Lewis, Mamoudou Athie Wade and Catherine…

January PPI Report Shows Producer Prices Rose, Pointing to Persistent Inflation

U.S. supplier prices rose 6% in January from a year earlier, a sign of still stubborn inflation pressures in the economy. That increase in the producer-price index, which generally reflects supply conditions in the economy, was slower than December’s 6.5% gain, the Labor Department said Thursday. And it was down markedly from the 11.7% rise in March 2022, the recent peak. The PPI increased 0.7% in January from the prior month, compared with a revised 0.2% drop in December,…

Marvel Fans Waste No Time in Pointing Out That Wakanda, Just Like Chicago, Was Created by White People

Image via Marvel Studios Black Panther is quite rightly considered a hugely culturally important movie for the African diaspora. It’s written and directed by Ryan Coogler, boasts a stacked cast of incredible Black actors, and leans heavily into Afro-futurist aesthetics. Soon after its release, critic Natasha Alford summed it up in The New York Times as “a master class in what it means to be proud of who you are”. But it perhaps shouldn’t be forgotten that, despite all the above, Black Panther and Wakanda were…
