Epic Mickey: Rebrushed is a full remake, not a remaster

THQ Nordic While Nintendo’s February Direct Partner Showcase included a few unexpected games, nothing was more surprising than the return of Epic Mickey. The Nintendo Wii adventure is something of a cult classic among Disney fans thanks to its unique painting hook and some clever 2D levels that pay tribute to classic Mickey Mouse cartoons. Though it’s beloved by some, reviews at the time were mixed due to some clumsy Wii-era motion controls and a poor 3D camera. Thankfully, the Disney adventure is getting some…

The Epic Games version of Tomb Raider I-III Remastered was an ‘incomplete’ build

The remaster of the original three Tomb Raider games was released not that long ago. For PC users, there was a choice between purchasing it on Steam or Epic Games Store. However, there seemed to be some notable differences between the two versions, which the developer has now acknowledged. According to a post from The Gamer a couple of days ago, fans began to notice that Tomb Raider I-III Remastered was different on EGS than on Steam. For starters, the Epic Games version had different skyboxes in places like the…

Review: Star Wars: Dark Forces Remaster

Star Wars has always been big news, but now it’s just one of the many blobs that are trying to slather themselves over every inch of the media landscape and suck the time right out of us. A long time ago, it used to feel like it belonged to the fans. Before the prequel trilogy started production, it seemed like no one was really sure what to do with the license. There were novels, comic books, and video games; things that the mainstream largely ignored. It became something more for nerds (like myself) who would delve…

Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered review – a great remaster of Lara Croft’s lost arc | Games

If modern games are sports cars – flashy, fast, expensive and noisy – the original Tomb Raider is a shopping trolley: clunky, slow and not much to look at. Cumbersome to operate, especially if you’re used to automatic gears and sat nav. Quiet, apart from the odd squeaky wheel. Absolutely brilliant at doing what it was designed to do. And yours for a quid.Well, £24.99, which is the asking price for Tomb Raider I-III Remastered. This offering includes Lara Croft’s first three adventures from 1996-98, plus the expansion…

Beyond Good and Evil Remaster appears on Korean ratings board

Last year, a leak showed that a remaster of Beyond Good and Evil is in the works for the 20th anniversary. At the time, the alleged game had been rated by the ESRB, and now the Ubisoft title has shown up on the Korean ratings board. The Game Rating and Administration Committee (or GRAC for short) has listed the project on its website, and has given it a 12+. While the site is in Korean, the actual title is right there in plain English, referring to it as Beyond Good and Evil Remaster. The listing was added on February…

Until Dawn is getting remastered for PS5 and PC in 2024 – Destructoid

As part of the PlayStation State of Play stream, Sony has confirmed the rumors that Until Dawn is getting remastered for PS5 and PC. In addition, they’ve revealed that it will be coming in 2024. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pnbxcNmUcQo We heard murmurs that the remaster was going to be revealed less than a week ago. This news comes not long after the announcement that the game is being adapted into a movie, which doesn’t seem that much of a departure from the game itself. The trailer shows off some familiar and…

Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster games finally have classic OST and font on PC

Square Enix has released a patch today for the PC versions of the Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster games. Patch 1.10 includes the option to switch between classic and remastered soundtracks and classic pixelated and crappy modern fonts.  In case something sounds off about this announcement to you, it’s because these features were already built into the console versions of these games. Why it took nearly a year to make it to PC is pretty mystifying. Screenshot by Destructoid The fonts, in particular, were hated by many who…

Quake remaster gets official Slave Zero X mod – Destructoid

Zigurrat and Poppy Works have released a free add-on for Quake based on the upcoming game Slave Zero X. More than just a beefy slice of marketing, Slave Zero X Episode Enyo is a mod that serves as a prequel to the main game’s narrative. The mod boasts six levels, eight weapons, and an original soundtrack. You play as one of the main antagonists from Slave Zero X, the eponymous Enyo. She’s out to assassinate Sovereign Khan, or “SovKhan,” as his friends call him. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rrXuou49PC8 The press…

Aspyr outlines what to expect in upcoming Tomb Raider remasters

Along with a recent RTX Remix, the classic Tomb Raider games are about to come back in a pretty big way. Aspyr has been hard at work remastering the original three entries in the iconic series, and we’ve been given a bit of a breakdown of what’s to come. A recent post on the PlayStation Blog gives us a few details on the upcoming Tomb Raider remasters, which are set to release on February 14 (ooh, la la). Going way back to 1998 when the studio helped launch the second game on Mac, Aspyr is more than familiar with Lara’s…
