Wash Park home lists for $2.7M after extensive renovations

Ginger Merry and Brannan Schell spent the past decade renovating and updating their 4,490-square-foot East Wash Park home. Now Merry, a radiologist and chief of breast imaging at Kaiser Permanente, and Schell, chief operating officer at tech therapy startup SonderMind, have listed it for $2.7 million. The couple bought the house on the 500 block of South Gilpin Street for $1 million in 2014. They worked with Larsen, a Denver custom home builder, to renovate the basement and add a guest suite, media room and storage. Since…

House Flipper 2 shows off its renovations in its demo – Destructoid

Measure twice, cut once I can’t really imagine a future where I can afford to buy a home for myself, let alone one where I could make a living buying up repair jobs and selling them at a higher price. Not that I think I’d want to. But regardless, House Flipper is probably as close as I’m going to get. Released in 2018, House Flipper had a profound effect on the simulator genre. Not that I think it meant to. However, it hit upon a nice balance of ugly jank and tactile gameplay. It wasn’t the first of its kind, but a…

Casa Bonita’s reopening renovations reportedly cost $40M

The renovations required to restore and reopen Casa Bonita reportedly cost “upward of $40 million.” That’s according to the New York Times, which spoke with owners Matt Stone and Trey Parker, also the creators of the venerable TV show “South Park,” during one of the restaurant’s soft opening nights earlier this month. Estimates procured by 9 News last August put the renovation at $12 million, in addition to the $3.1 million price tag to purchase the local landmark. But as construction mounted, so too did the bill. “When…

It turned to Silicon Valley Bank, just 43 feet away on Sand Hill Road in the heart of the venture industry in Menlo Park, California. To make the loan work for Kleiner's project, which cost more than $500,000, SVB agreed to lend the money against the value of the fees that the venture firm was set to earn from its funds, four people…

HGTV’s “Rico to the Rescue” showcases Denver’s worst home renovations

Rico León has seen far more botched home renovation projects than the average Denverite. As a self-described “advocate for desperate families,” he has been helping locals navigate their worst construction nightmares by mediating with general contractors or taking on that role himself to help projects reach the finish line. Now anyone with access to HGTV can watch – and commiserate – as León tackles half-baked home projects around Denver in a new series called “Rico to the Rescue,” which airs Saturdays. León, a Pittsburgh…
