Nvidia turns to liquid cooling to reduce big tech’s energy use

Nvidia has announced its new plan for reducing the energy use of data centers crunching massive amounts of data or training AI models: liquid-cooled graphics cards. The company announced at Computex that it’s introducing a liquid-cooled version of its A100 compute card, and says that it consumes 30 percent less power than the air-cooled version. Nvidia’s also pledging that this isn’t just a one-off, it’s already got more liquid-cooled server cards on its roadmap, and hints at bringing the tech to other applications…

Soundfall turns dungeon crawling into a killer dance party

There are times when I’m playing certain games where I want to play my music on Spotify instead of listening to the in-game soundtrack. I’ve done that for a few games — Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy, Spyro Reignited Trilogy, Shantae Half-Genie Hero, and Sonic Forces (the final boss, anyway) — but it doesn’t always work as well as I hope it will. In-game music tends to better suit the mood of the experience compared to anything I try to play over it. Soundfall, a co-op rhythm-based dungeon crawler from Drastic…

Phenomenal BossLogic Poster Turns ‘Batman vs. ET’ Into a Reality

Image via WarnerBros.com Chip ‘N Dale: Rescue Rangers not only provided fans with one of the best animated reboot films to date, but also a ton of fan service.  One of the highlights of the film didn’t influence its plot at all, but instead, commentary on the future of cinema with Batman colliding with E.T. in a future movie project.  Bringing this joke further into reality, renowned graphic designer Boss Logic put his spin on the idea, providing the first poster for Batman V E.T. to life. In this artwork as…

A ‘God Of War’ mod turns its deities into ‘The Simpsons’ characters

A new God Of War mod replaces various gods from the game with models of characters from The Simpsons. The mod by Omega Fantasy naturally swaps out God Of War’s father-son duo, Kratos and Atreus, with Homer and Bart respectively. Likewise, The Stranger (who acts as a recurring antagonist throughout the game) is replaced by well-mannered Christian neighbour Ned Flanders. The character models for The Simpsons characters are taken from the 2003 sandbox title, The Simpsons: Hit & Run. However, the mod doesn’t simply…

Tchaikovsky’s Wife review – love turns to obsession in an off-key marriage | Cannes 2022

Writer-director Kirill Serebrennikov brings his intense sympathies to the unhappy figure of Antonina Miliukova, estranged wife of composer Pyotr Tchaikovsky, in a part once taken by Glenda Jackson in Ken Russell’s 1971 film The Music Lovers. Serebrennikov’s movie imagines Antonina as selfish, fanatical, naive, narcissistic and self-indulgent, not to say antisemitic, but also as the most wronged-genius wife since Sophia Tolstoy, or, indeed, Constance Wilde. As often in the past, this director’s film-making inhales or…

The Sadness review – unapologetically yucky gorefest turns into pandemic allegory | Film

Inspired by the Crossed comic book series, this enigmatically titled gorefest directed by Rob Jabbaz is perhaps the bleakest cinematic response yet to the pandemic. As a mysterious virus descends upon an overcrowded Taipei filled with crammed apartments and packed subway cars, the infected morph into rabid monsters who are slaves to their basest instincts. Sweeping through the city like a crimson wave, gruesome acts of violence – including stabbings, sexual assaults and cannibalism – are made even more horrifying by their…

An Ice-Cold Comic Book Thriller Turns up the Heat on HBO Max

The comic book adaptation has been cinema’s favorite genre for over 20 years, and with good reason. It’s gifted the world with countless critical and commercial favorites, but on the other side of the coin, you occasionally end up with total and utter failures like Whiteout. Based on the four-episode 1998 run written by The Old Guard‘s Greg Rucka, it would take over a decade for the feature film version to arrive, only for it to be swiftly beaten into submission by critics and audiences. Armed with a fairly modest $35…
