2025 Chevrolet Bolt: rumored price, release date, design

Chevrolet It looks like the Bolt isn’t dead after all. Only a few months after Chevrolet announced that it would be killing the Bolt EV, the company reversed course and said that the Bolt will live on. And, finally, we have a few more details about what will likely remain one of the cheapest EVs in its next iteration. That’s not to say it’ll ever be the same again, though. On the contrary, Chevrolet says that it’ll be releasing a new-and-improved second generation of the Bolt that’ll be built on General Motors’…

Honda previews its future EV lineup at CES 2024

Honda is finally getting serious about EVs. At CES 2024, it announced plans to launch a whole line of them called the 0 Series starting in 2026, and it reviewed the first two models in the series with a pair of concept cars. The two concepts are a van-like EV called the Space-Hub and the Saloon, which is what people in many countries outside the U.S. call sedans. The Saloon concept is no Honda Accord, though; its cheese-wedge shape is almost supercar-like. We’ll see if that dramatic styling carries over to the…

Ultium grows, Bolt ends best year ever as GM has 3.1% EV share

2023 Chevy Bolt EUV (Source: Chevrolet) GM has released its Q4 sales numbers, showing Ultium still ramping steadily, but overall EV sales are down as its best-selling model, the Bolt, winds down as Chevy takes it off the market in its best year of sales ever – leaving GM with only 3.1% EV share, well below the US average. In Q4, GM sold a total of 19,469 EVs in Q4, a small decrease from last quarter’s total of 20,092, and a significant increase from Q4 2022 which had 16,266 EV sales.…

2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV first drive: bold look, tepid specs

Stephen Edelstein/Digital Trends They say good things come to those who wait. General Motors is hoping customers will take that maxim to heart. The 2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV, an electric crossover SUV sharing the name of a similarly sized gasoline model, but nothing else, was first shown in the summer of 2022 and quietly entered production a few months ago. But few cars have made it to customers due to production issues that have plagued not just the Blazer, but all of GM’s new EVs, which use a shared component set…

General Motor’s Ultium EV charging stations look like a gas station

There’s something I’ve always found a bit odd about Tesla’s Supercharging stations — most of them don’t have a roof. So, what are you supposed to do if you pull up in need of a charge and there’s a torrential downpour going on? I guess you’re out of luck. Have fun rushing out to get drenched while you’re trying to get the charger in.While some other automakers are adding roofs to their charging stations, there seems to be a split on how that is being implemented. While Mercedes is doing a really nice job of this…

Cadillac Optiq is the luxury brand’s new entry-level EV

Cadillac Cadillac will add an entry-level electric SUV to its lineup in 2024. The Cadillac Optiq is a “luxury compact SUV” slotting below the Lyriq in the brand’s EV hierarchy. Photos released with the brief announcement show styling features that tie the Optiq to the larger Lyriq, such as split taillights, but other details won’t be released until closer to the Optiq’s launch. It’s a safe bet that the Optiq will draw on the same General Motors Ultium component set as the Lyriq and other Cadillac EVs. The Ultium name…

2024 Honda Prologue EV SUV: rumored range, pricing, dates

Honda Slowly but surely, every large car company is getting on board with electric cars. While most of them have released at least one electric model so far, some are still readying their first. Did you know, however, that Honda is not one of those companies? The Honda Clarity was taken off the market a few years ago, and finally, it noe looks like Honda is preparing to launch its first of a new generation of electric cars — the 2024 Honda Prologue SUV. The Prologue offers a different take on design compared to the…

Chevy’s Ultium Bolt will need these 5 things to be successful

Close-up view of the Chevrolet Bolt nameplate. (Photo by Jeffrey Sauger for Chevrolet) After dropping hints earlier, today GM CEO Mary Barra announced that Chevy would be re-release its popular Chevy Bolt after it gets an Ultium makeover. The Boltium! After owning two Bolts from 2017 until today, along with other popular EVs from Tesla and others, I feel like I have a good idea of what GM needs to succeed here. I want to say first that GM is starting with an extraordinary car in…

In a press release, the company announced its first set of home energy storage solutions that are targeted at residential customers who want to install battery-powered energy storage to keep their home powered in case of emergencies.
