Valve has responded to the #SaveTF2 campaign created by Team Fortress 2 fans, acknowledging issues with the game and sharing that it is “working to improve things”. This month, Team Fortress 2 players have been rallying behind the #SaveTF2 tag, which aims to raise awareness about the long-standing shooter game’s current condition. According to fans, the game is currently overrun with hackers and automated accounts that spoil matches for regular players. Fans say this has been going on for years due to Valve’s neglect,…

Valve may have fixed the Steam Deck’s noisy fan with a new software update

Valve’s latest SteamOS update is a big one for Steam Deck fans — and I am literally talking about the fan in the handheld gaming PC. One frequent complaint about the Steam Deck is its at-times loud and high-pitched fan whine even while playing lightweight games. Some, including my colleague Sean Hollister, have tried a DIY solution to fix the whine, and iFixit’s replacement Steam Deck fans are already sold out despite being on sale for less than a week. With SteamOS 3.2, though, Valve introduced a new OS-controlled…

Valve says you shouldn’t fix the Steam Deck’s noisy fan this way

The Steam Deck started shipping two months ago today, and it’s gotten quite a bit better since, but this week might be the best yet — because we’re finally addressing the single biggest issue with the $400 portable PC. Yes, I’m talking about the fan. When the Deck launched, it shipped with an extremely noisy fan to cool its AMD Zen 2 and RDNA 2 silicon, and owners like me have been dealing with its volume and constant whine from day one. It ran constantly, even when I wasn’t doing anything with the system, and was…

Valve upgrades its Steam Deck dock ahead of release, but we still don’t know how much it costs

Valve has quietly updated the specs to its still-unreleased official dock for the Steam Deck handheld gaming PC, as reported by Review Geek. The Steam Deck tech specs page originally said the dock would have one USB-A 3.1 port, two USB-A 2.0 ports, and an Ethernet port for networking, but the page now says that all three USB-A ports will use the much faster 3.1 standard, and it now specifies that the Ethernet port will actually be a Gigabit Ethernet port.
