India is one of the largest markets in the world for two-wheeler manufacturers. The demand for expensive and high-performance motorcycles and scooters has been on the rise, and we have been seeing a lot more of these on the roads. There are many manufacturers who produce motorcycles that don’t look like conventional ones. American automotive manufacturer Polaris, known for making ATVs, has also manufactured a motorcycle called the Slingshot.

We have one of these motorcycles in India, and this is how people reacted to it after spotting it on the road. The video has been uploaded by BikeWithGirl on their YouTube channel. In the video, the vlogger is seen riding a Polaris Slingshot on the roads of Mumbai. It is an extremely unique-looking motorcycle. The design is such that most people who spotted it on the road thought it was an expensive supercar, but unfortunately, it is not. The owner of this Slingshot had imported it to India via Carnet, and we can also see the Dubai registration plates at the rear.

The bike is extremely wide at the front, as wide as a Porsche 911. This motorcycle gets a clamshell bonnet with a 2.0-litre petrol engine underneath. It has two wheels at the front and one at the rear, with power sent to the rear wheels. Both the front and rear wheels have 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels. Like any motorcycle, the Slingshot can also seat two people, but the seat layout is different. Two people can sit next to each other, just like in a car. There is a steering wheel with controls mounted on it. The instrument cluster is digital, and there is a touchscreen infotainment screen on the centre console. There are speakers, and one good thing about this motorcycle is that even if you forget the key, you can start the bike by simply entering a password into the infotainment system.

Polaris Slingshot

The 2.0-litre petrol engine on this motorcycle generates 204 Ps and 193 Nm of peak torque. It is mated to an automatic transmission, and the top speed is limited to 200 kmph. The vlogger can be heard saying in the video that it does not feel like riding a motorcycle at all. It does not have any doors or a roof like we see in a car. Everywhere it goes, it grabs people’s attention due to its unique styling and bright colour. There is even a sticker inside the Slingshot that declares that it is a motorcycle and not a car, and the rider must always wear a helmet while riding it.

Coming to the pricing, this is an expensive motorcycle. How expensive? The vlogger mentions that this motorcycle costs around Rs 1.5 crore. When the vlogger told some people about the price in the video, they were amused, and some were confused too. The video also shows reactions of people on the road. Polaris had launched the Slingshot in 2014, and the one seen here in the video is the 2022 model. Unlike many of the ATVs manufactured by Polaris, Slingshot is a road legal motorcycle.
