Samsung is gearing up for its first major in-person Galaxy Unpacked event since 2020 in a couple of weeks. The upcoming event on February 1 will see it launch the Galaxy S23 series flagship smartphones and a bunch of laptops. Ahead of the big event, the company’s head of mobile business TM Roh has teased that the new flagships will set new performance standards in the smartphone industry.

Samsung executive talks about Galaxy S23 performance boost ahead of launch

In an editorial published on Samsung Newsroom earlier today, Roh said that the Galaxy S23 series will extend the company’s innovation heritage. He touted the phones as the best examples of the Korean behemoth delivering on its vision of setting new standards in the tech industry. Roh says the firm has doubled down on its fundamentals and that helped it make industry-leading products. The Galaxy S23 trio will boast a “smarter” pro-grade camera system that can capture excellent photos and videos in any lighting condition.

The Samsung executive hinted at improved hardware-software integration on the new phones. The company is equipping the Galaxy S23 series with an overclocked version of Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor globally. The two firms may have worked closely for hardware and software optimization, delivering faster performance. Roh particularly mentions the Galaxy S23 Ultra. He notes how the phone fully incorporates the best of the now-discontinued Note lineup, including a large screen, boxy body, and a built-in S Pen.

“The Galaxy S Ultra has truly become the pinnacle of Samsung Mobile’s innovation, a marque that stands out against everything else, and soon we’ll show you what Ultra can do in even more device categories,” Roh said in the editorial. He may be referring to the Galaxy Book 3 Ultra here. This is the very first time Samsung is launching an Ultra-branded laptop, thus expanding the brand to a new device category. The Galaxy Book 3 Ultra will come alongside the Galaxy Book 3, Galaxy Book 3 360, Galaxy Book 3 Pro, and Galaxy Book 3 Pro 360.

Sustainability remains Samsung’s focus while leading smartphone innovation

The Samsung Mobile boss further added that the company hasn’t compromised on its sustainability efforts to offer a premium experience. He said the Korean firm is committed to building devices that last longer with enhanced durability and reliability. Samsung focuses on innovation that has a less environmental impact.

“On February 1 at Unpacked, we’ll show how innovation and sustainability working together bring the ultimate premium experience. At a time when the stakes are higher than ever, we’ve raised the bar by pushing boundaries for the mobile experience — delivering our most powerful mobile experiences you’ll continue to love for years to come,” Roh said.
