Toyota to launch rebadged Fronx and Ertiga soon
Toyota has an exciting lineup of three new vehicles set to join its offerings in India by the end of this year. Among these additions, two are three-row MPVs positioned at opposite ends of the price range, while the third is a compact SUV, slotted below the Urban Cruiser Hyryder.
Let’s start with the most affordable and compact option of the trio as per ACI. This sub-four-metre SUV will fill the gap left by the discontinuation of the Urban Cruiser. It will essentially be a rebadged version of the Maruti Suzuki Fronx, launched under the NEXA brand this year. Similar to the Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Toyota’s sub-compact SUV might feature slight modifications to its front and rear profiles compared to the Fronx. Expect it to share powertrain options with the Fronx, including a 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated 90 PS petrol engine and a 1.0-litre turbocharged 100 PS petrol engine.

Toyota Rumion based on Ertiga
Moving on to the MPVs set to grace Toyota showrooms this year, the more budget-friendly option will be a compact three-row MPV called the Toyota Rumion. Positioned below the Innova Crysta, this MPV is essentially a rebadged version of the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, already sold by Toyota in South Africa. Although it shares similarities with the Ertiga, the Toyota Rumion will boast distinct front grille design with a Toyota badge, front bumper, and alloy wheels. Under the hood, it will have the same 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated 103 PS petrol engine and a seven-seater interior with an all-black layout, unlike the beige upholstery in the Ertiga. Expect the Toyota Rumion to have a slightly higher price tag than the Ertiga.
The second MPV in Toyota’s lineup will be the all-new Vellfire, which was recently unveiled and is already available in global markets. As a CBU offering for the Indian market, the Toyota Vellfire will feature a luxurious and opulent exterior and interior design. It comes with the Executive Lounge package as standard, providing individual captain chairs in the second row with retractable tables, ottoman leg rests, and ventilation functions. The Vellfire retains its 2.5-litre four-cylinder petrol-hybrid powertrain, boasting a maximum power of 250 PS.
Hilux available with massive discounts
As per a recent report, the Toyota Hilux, a lifestyle pickup truck, is currently being offered with attractive discounts exceeding Rs 6 lakh. These discounts primarily apply to the more premium High variant of the Toyota Hilux, which is proving to be more enticing for buyers. In certain North Indian dealerships, potential customers can avail discounts ranging from Rs 6-8 lakh on the Hilux. Notably, the vehicle was initially launched in 2022 at a starting price of Rs 33.99 lakh. However, due to overwhelming demand, Toyota had to halt bookings for the Hilux during that time. Thankfully, at the beginning of 2023, Toyota resumed accepting bookings for the Hilux, albeit with some price revisions.
